You should always encourage outdoor activity and sports for your children, especially male children. Encourage and provide avenues--not force! I was forced into little league when I was a kid and I didn't want to play, but I willingly played soccer. So, if your son quit pop warner, I would ask him what he would rather do instead. I would suggest various things, find teams or clubs or camps in the local newspaper or at your local rec center.

First you all need to have as it down about the reason why. If he has legitimate reasoning then I would not force is hand. If it is just due to him being a kid and not getting his way, then yes he needs to get back out there and learn. That is the purpose of team sports, to teach discipline and sportsmanship.

Already got some ignorant answers on this I see... the right thing to do would be let him make up his own mind... parents getting too involved in youth sports is a bad idea, and choosing if he should or shouldn't obviously is too involved.

Talk to him. See why he wants to quit. If it is because, "it's too hard", or I don't like it", or I don't get to play enough". You got to make him complete what he started. He wanted to do it, and now that you have put the time and money into it. His job is to complete the season. I made my kids complete everything they started. Now they do not jump into something with no regard for the responsibility they took on. Explain to your son that he also made a commitment to the team!

Talk with him and let him tell you why, do NOT interrupt or criticize his reasoning. Just listen and learn then guide.
