Try one part 3% hydrogen peroxide with one part water. Rinse, try to hold peroxide mixture in mouth for 30 to 60 seconds, but DON'T SWALLOW. Expect foaming to occur if gums are infected.
Also, ibuprofen-type products help with inflammation.

Are you flossing? The main cause of inflamed gums is plaque under the gum line. Flossing and using a good anti-bacterial rinse will help reduce inflammation.
Vitamin C also helps.

Make sure u use a really soft brush, and brush gently holding the brush at 45 degrees to the gum line so that you are cleaning under the gums too. Use a good mouthrinse with antiseptic in it or rinse with salty water. If you suspect infection see a doctor for some antibiotics.

listerine helps a lot..but no more than 3 times in a day...warm salt water rinses are great! you can do that every 30 min. flossing might help..and go very gentely on the brushing right now...stick with 2 times a day right now..you could have gingervitis, or an infection, or you could just be brushing to hard...take some advil, that reduces swelling.

Rinse your mouth with diluted hydrogen peroxide, but don't swallow any. That should help cut down on some of the inflammation and pain. Good luck @ the D

Flossing will prevent this problem, along with dental cleanings twice a year.

Listerine or Crest Pro Health will help with some of the inflammatoin.

Maybe it's because you can't eat anything HARD, hehehe.
Quit munching carpet for a few days and it should go away.
