My girlfriend gets on me too about that, but I do a alot of little things that show's i care for her. I've been with her for over 2 years and I still open the door to a car or house or any place.

I agree with your b/f. Show me you love me. Saying it is nothing he can tell you that all day just because you want to hear it. To go out your way and do things for your mate means a lot more.

Though I think that if you feel it is important for him to say he loves you often, I think that your boyfriend is right.
You should talk to him about what you need, but I think when the words "I love you" are said as part of a scheduled event, it sort of loses it's meaning.
