That happens to me all the time. My Grandmother used to tell me to go back to where I was when I forgot it because I left the thought "hanging in the air there" and needed to pick it up again. Oddly enough it works every time.

It is because you saw something that let you think about doing something. When you leave to that you forget, but when you go back up stairs you see something that reminds you of what you were thinking even if just looked at a picture the moment you fought about it,it triggers your memorie.

Happens to me too. Sometimes I write myself a note so I won't forget! Sometimes I forget that I have a note! HA! HA! At least I'm not the only one this forgetfulness happens to!

Because when you were there something made you think of what you went to look for and when you got upstairs that something that reminded you was no longer in sight, so you forgot what you were looking for.

1. It's normal to be distracted for moments and forget what you set out to do.
2. It is not normal to forget how to brush your teeth, drive a car, write your name, or find your way home.

Don't worry, it happens to everybody. It's worse when someone asks you to go get them something, and by the time you get to where it would be, you forget what they asked for. Been there, done that.

We all do it, usually because we're thinking of something else whilst going for whatever, which tends to blank what we had originally been going for.....more frustrating is when you remember what your going for then can't remember where you put it... oh well ..thats mid life crisis for you !!!! (Me that is ).

It may indicate that you are older than your avatar image suggests. That short term memory loss is typical of people when they hit their fifties or sixties. As long as the idea comes back to you when you go back to where you were, it is more of a nuisance than a failing.
