I wouldn't worry too much about it, love. He's still just a little kid. When he gets older he'll realize that some behavior may be unseemly, and he'll most likely grow out of it. I for one used to have a fetish when I was really little of putting my chin in someone's eyesocket or vice-versa (don't ask), and I've grown up to be a perfectly normal human being.... well...umm....kind of.....

i hope he grows out of it. That wouldnt be good if he was an adult rubbing his nose with a hair ball. I think it needs to be addressed, sometimes a fetish can be a problem, especially if its not under control. I would suggest therapy, but it didint work in my friends case.

I know a guy who as a child chewed on the TV remote at night and rocked back and forth on the couch, it was a ritual and now hes 24 and he chewed up his girl friends remote that she replaced 5 times. Plus her couch is broke in one corner from all the rocking. He does this faithfully every night at the same time and then goes back to bed. Creepy.

Sounds like he is using hair as a kind of "blankie".

Like a "blankie", imho, 10 is a bit old to be using comfort objects like this. Pretty soon that comfort object may in fact turn into a sexual fetish which he could carry throughout his adult life - might make things difficult for him.

I'd go with therapy, just get him to talk to someone, make sure he's alright. Not necessarily about the hair stuff, but just about anything.

However, the short of it is that he is NOT your son, and the most you could do would be to express gentle concern to your sister (in-law?), but it is not your place to take on this problem.

Just let him be he will grow up normal like every one else.
Nearly every one has some sort of fetish or other and it doesnt harm them in any way.
I have a thing for feet whether its a fetish or not - i dont know, but i've had it ever since i can remember and it has done me no harm!

Try giving him a hair stuffed animal or a pet ( cat, rabbit, dog) that doesn't mind being cuddled good luck
