Well remember satan is a great singer.
Jazz and rock n roll music dance etc, when you hear it, if your not careful your body starts moving to the beat.
Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
tabrets means tamborine, and pipes is also used to produce sound.
Jazz and Rock n roll are worldly music. True reverent worship comes from intellectual worship such as singing hymns, and sometimes anthems. Think about it, if you can jump around clap and sway for 40 minutes, can you do the same reverently praising him?
also just a note, the drum is never mentioned in the Bible.

Any kind of music has a place in church worship, especially jazz.
When teh Apostles preached to teh crowd of many nations at pentecost, everyone could understand what was being said, as if the Apostles were speaking in their own language.
Music is the universal language of the soul. No matter what country you come from, music speaks to the heart and the soul, even if you do not understand the language being sung. Music is the language of teh holy Spirit.
Jazz, especially, with its improvization is from teh holy Spirit. Jazz musicians just begin playing and the Spirit inspires them to improvise.

Music in and of itself is not bad or evil. There are so many people who claim that Rock music is from Satan...but I say then you haven't heard bands like Audio Adrenaline, Jeremy Camp, Todd Agnew rock out in praise of the God of the universe.
Jazz is not evil. It is not bad....what makes a song bad is the lyrics that are put into it. When you have lyrics that are sexually charged or talking about killing cops...then you have something evil on your hands...but if you take that same song and make it simply instrumental....you have something you can dance to and possibly even thank God for.
Hope this helps.

Jazz is music originating from New Orleans in the 1880's...influenced by black, carribean and latin cultures. Dominant were freed slaves gospel style music infused the more classical european style music. Dancing (swing, salsa ) was associated with Jazz music....however to stop the rapid explosion of such infectious music,,,,other cultures in America (Europeans mainly) term it as black music ...with the "black" stressed to mean devilish...also since in those times the Devil was always believed to of Black skin colour opposing the white skinned Jesus/God ...Any music can have a place in worship ...from heavy metal, Jazz, to Latino pop.. Afterall what is music but the expression of one's state of mind and emotions!!

There is no holy, or unholy music. It is only what is in the heart, the spirit of humility and worship (or lack thereof) that determines whether it is a worthy sacrifice to God, or a vehicle for pride.
God created sound and air, and wood and metal, and flesh and lungs. None of those things are inherently good or evil. It is how you use them that brings glory or anger to God.

Jazz has been incorportaed into religious service. I don't agree with this, but to each religious denomination their own. I think Jazz originzted with the Afro-American in the south, primarily around New Orleans, LA.

Are you KIDDING me????!!!!!*utterly gobsmacked*
I believe any form of creativity is "worshipful"--in our creativity, we are truly "in God's image". Jazz is one of the most intricate and creatively demanding forms of music, and as such brings us closer to our true nature, and to God, as listeners, or as performers. Why , oh WHY, do we have to devide the world up into bizarre polarities of "good" and "evil"??. I'll tell you one thing I believe--fear and paranoia are definitely Satan's territory, if indeed there is a Satan.I believe if your intent is to worship, and the lyrics reflect that, then yes, of course Jazz could have a place in Church. But certainly not "Evil"......sheesh! :S
(*note:Just think of Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World".....I mean, ???How could you ever think that was evil??)

PS-Charlie Parker lived through heaven and hell. He would probably say "both". Most musicians draw on all of life. If you associate God and satan with the extremes of pleasure and pain, than my answer is also "both".

I'm no huge fan of Jazz, but I don't think it comes from Satan. You're not trying to pull a Pat Robertson on us are you. :)

Why would people even *think* to credit Satan with so much, and God with so little? Isn't God the one who creates, and Satan the one who only knows how to destroy? This has always puzzled me.
