Have you sen that movie it was so good. Actually Fried green tomatoes tast like fried eggplant. All you do is bread the outside with eather crushed cornflakes or crushed dried bread crums or crackers, add a little seasionings i use salt pepper and a hint of garlic salt, then you fry in oil. They are really good.

Some dinners now offer fried green tomatoes,. Some offer fried pickles or fried okra. Just another fried vegie. But I like them all. Weather you eat them fried or fixed another way it is still food. Try one, you may like it too.

I have searched for an answer to your question. I could not find one so far. When I was little my grandmother used to make them. And to the best of my knowledge, people used to fry them & make chow chow & other things with green tomatoes that were not ripe after harvest so they would not spoil & they were not wasted. That is what I remember when I would ask. hope this helps.

you wil usually have numerous green tomatoes c\ompared to ripe ones...slice quarter inch thick batter in flour and fry for 4 minutes..top with a cuke ranch dressing

Mmmm because they are wonderful. I like them with some honey mustard salad dressing. I don't know who made the first one, but I hope they are in a very happy place now.

Perhaps you have never tried them? They are delicious! Of course, they could just be a select taste, but you don't know till you try them.
