Well I paid 500 but I wish I had spent a little more for a better photographer it took us over a month and then she didn't do a very good job and all of our pictures looked a like. I thought pictures wouldn't matter but they do. That is the only thing you really have after the wedding.

I didn't pay for my wedding photographs my husbands aunt is a wedding photographer and her gift to us was the photographs she took..
She normally charges $1500.00 for a package deal which includes the photos on the day of the wedding (ceremony, after ceremony and reception) as well as a 3 hour travel around to take photos pre-wedding session for invitation photos ..
My husband and I received the photos all developed and placed in a leather bound album in chronological order starting with the pre-wedding shots through the last taken at the reception after we had left. Along with the negatives well marked each sheet of negatives in a special pocket per page so the negative corresponded perfectly with the photos on the page..

We're trying to pay around $200-$300 for wedding pictures. We have an ala carte plan, so we paid $900 for 3 hours of coverage and $300 for photographs.
As for the photographer, we really didn't want all the extras. We didn't a CD of proofs you can't even print off for yourself, we didn't need on-line proofing, etc. We just wanted a photographer and able to make our own photoalbum. We had to have $800 worth of anything, so we chose 3 hours of photo coverage. That's just perfect for us.

About $1150. The guy gave me $1000 off, because he was trying to finish booking up the year. This gave me 2 people for 8 hours and 300+ photographs (I ended up with almost 900). He then gave me all of my photos on a disc (both in color and B&W 900x2 =1800 pics) so I could develop them myself (I own the rights to my own pictures). He also put the pictures up on the pictage website, which I used to buy the 5x7s, 8x10s, etc... for display around the house. Once you add in the albums I bought & photo developing it probably ended up being about $1,500. I didn't want to skimp on the photos though. When I'm old, gray, and senile I wanted to have something really nice to look at. Also, we did NOT hire a videographer for the wedding. So, I guess you could say we saved money there.
P.S. You can get really good albums on eBay for a great deal.
P.P.S. Who ever you go with make sure they give you the negatives/rights to your wedding pictures. That way you can legally make copies of them for everyone else.

We're paying $400. Experienced photographer (15 years w/weddings) he's giving us all the prints in an album and giving us the negatives to have more made. He won't be doing the very cool collages or artsy digital enhancements though. I wish I knew how to use those photograph programs.

$2000, and worth every penny. Make sure that you always meet with your photographer before signing the contract. Ask to see MANY examples of work (often they will only show you their best). Don't be afraid of asking LOTS of questions, everything from "why do you photograph weddings?" to "what would you wear?" You will not regret having fantastic pictures. You will regret not getting a photo of everyone you want, you will regret out of focus pictures, and you will regret not having enough pictures. Splurge!

Well right now I am looking into finding a photographer for my fiance's and my wedding, and the price ranges are all over the place, what you pay is going to depend on who you hire, but it always helps to take a look at samples so you know you are going to get good pics, but you can pay anywhere from $500-$5,000(the most expensive i have ever seen) it depends on what you want.....

I'm an amature wedding photographer. As an amature, I usually charge around $300, and trust me, I barely make any money off of that. Professionals have a much higher quality product than what I can provide, and they usually run $800++.

I paid $300 in Texas. The photographer is just starting out and now charges $450 but that's cheap too. She gave us a whole package deal, enagement pictures, bridals and wedding pictures. This included a small package of the engagement pictures, one 11x14 bridal, and an album of 3x5's of all printable pictures of the ceremony and reception (and getting ready).

My son got married last month and we paid $600.00. The photos turned out great. He took about 500 photos and they were all great. We went with a photographer that didn't have a lot of fluff but had great pics to show and the attitude to match. We went to a couple of events he did just for a few minutes just to get an idea of how he worked and it was wonderful. We did the same with a couple of others we were considering, he won hands down.
