Is God Evil?
Read this before you comment on it!!
Did God create everything that exists? Does evil exist? Did God create
evil?
A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning
challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything
that
exists?"
A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"
"God created everything?" The professor asked.
"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.
The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created
evil.
And, since evil exists, & according to the principle that our works
define
who we are, then we can assume God is evil."
The student became quiet & did not respond to the professor's
hypothetical
definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the
students that he had proven once more that the religious faith was a
myth.
Another student raised his hand & said, "May I ask you a question,
professor?"
"Of course," replied the professor.
The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never
been
cold?"
The other students snickered at the young man's question. The young man
replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of
physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat.
Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits
energy, & heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy.
Absolute zero (-460F) is the total absence of heat; & all matter
becomes
inert & incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist.
We
have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."
The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"
The professor responded, "Of course it does."
The student replied , "Once again you are wrong, darkness does not
exist
either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can
study,
but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white
light
into many colors & study the various wave lengths of each color. You
cannot
measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of
darkness
& illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is?
You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct?
Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is
no
light present."
Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already
said.
We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to
man.
It is in the multitude of crime & violence everywhere in the world.
These
manifestations are nothing else but evil.
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it
doesnot exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is
just
like darkness & cold, a word that man has created to describe the
absence
of God.
God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man
does
not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes
when there is no heat, or the darkness
that comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down.
The student's name--Albert Einstein A true story.

People make bad choices from not being educated or not having good parents when they grew up -some times even with good parents and a good education they still make bad choices. All actions generate reactions and when someone isn't thinking right due to pain, drugs, hate,or other bad influences there actions may be considered evil. Some people steal to support their drug habit. Some people kill for the thrill of it. Sick and stupid are the evil.

Both. I think that as we grow, we slip in our faith and allow satan to get his foot in the door of our mind. If you are saved then you still have to continually find to keep that door shut by keeping in tune with GOD. If you do not let him have an opening he cannot enter. That aside, I think people are born good or should I say, at least a blank slate. The things that go on around you and the people who influence you have a lot to do with how much good or evil you can maintain. Children live what they learn.

My personal belief that when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil", that was the "sin" - the act of disobedience.
My personal belief also expounds that this fruit was quite literal, and once the fruit of this tree was eaten, it began changing them, perhaps genetically, altering at least their thinking patterns and changed their bodies from immortal to moral, and in that sense, sin brought death into the world.
The knowledge of good and evil is what brought evil as well as good. Up until that point, Adam and Eve were pure. They had a working knowledge of how to do things and were no doubt creative, but there was not good or evil - just a state of life without any wrong. Understand?
When the knowledge, the separator of what was good and evil came, mankind was now set for invention not only good things, but evil as well. This is most evident when Cain killed his brother over envy and jealousy.
If Adam and Eve had not eaten the fruit - Cain would not have murdered his brother because his level of envy would not have led (driven) him to invent (contrive) a means to harm his brother.
Murder is just one example - of sin leading to death. This genetic sin nature has been passed on to all mankind through Adam and Eve. Just as Death came through Adam, Jesus (the second Adam - a first born of his kind) has brought a means whereby we can regain that birthright of eternal life, and closeness with God.., but only through Jesus and on the terms set forth by God through him.

I actually think the reverse is true. I believe that mankind is inherently evil. And it is up to the person to continue on that path or to find something that will lead him into a life where evil is less likely to make an impact on him/her.

No matter what someone's beliefs are, in the end we all are responsible for our own actions. Every choice has it's outcome. So, if the choices tend to be "darK" as you say, the person's life will also appear to be dark. It has nothing to do with a so-called devil.

I dont think you can have good without having evil inside.. How else do you gauge what is good? There is no ying without yang so to speak. It is up to us ourselves to decide which we want to express or behave as. All of us are capable of good and bad and we have all acted on both. There are varying degrees of it with different people due to what has attributed to the side they choose to show.
