Separation of Church and State is what makes your "Freedom" of religion possible and protects others who wish to believe other forms of such rubbish as "freely" as you. Of course, rational thinkers know that religious belief is one of the worse forms of intellectual slavery and has little to do with "Freedom". In the U.S. we are facing a crisis where Bible Nazis are attempting to take over the state to force their will on the total population and people like George Bush are supporting them.
The whole concept of "Religious Freedom" has to be reconsidered in light of the fact that it seems far too easy for religious fanatics to establish a theocracy. You should have the right to believe whatever stupid thing you want as long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of people who act and think rationally.
For those foaming at the mouth at my use of the term "Bible Nazi", this is the definition - BIBLE NAZI - A fundamentalist christian who thinks it is a violation of their rights if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down my throat.

Try reading the writings of the founding fathers.
Then READ the CONSTITUTION!! It states that there shall be no laws made concerning religion (to paraphrase). Meaning that the two entities are separate! Hence the separation of church and state.
Now run along and vote for Catherine and try to get some more supporters for the bush. They will appreciate your lies and efforts!

You need to continue your research. Both Washington and Jefferson stated in some of their letters that there should be a separation of church and state. I do not recall anyone stating it was in the Constitution, so that is flawed. I have not taken anything out of context. I read the complete letters. You should as well.

People should have the right to their own beliefs, and that includes anybody who is not of the Christian faith. For example, if Asians live in America, and if they want to continue being Buddhist, then they should have that right without being told by Christians that they must convert to the Christian faith.
So, separation of church and state is necessary. Would Christians like it if they were legislated into believing in a different religion?
And if a person doesn't want to believe in any religion, that right should be respected.
Live and let live -- unless you want more fighting in the name of God.

I totally agree with you. The idea of separation of Church and state was that this country wasn't going to be ran by one religion, but that all people were free to participate in any religion without interference from the government. I believe it's the devil working through the atheist to try to bring this country down. Take a look at our schools these days. Ever since prayer was taken out of them, teenage pregnancy, drugs, and gang violence has risen. It is my understanding that all religions pray to a god. So why remove prayer? Why remove the Ten Commandments from our court houses? Wouldn't you want your neighbors to obey the Ten Commandments? I know I would.

Anti-Christian propaganda.
Even Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association was wrought with political leadings. Amazing how his words could be twisted.
Odd, for an "atheist" to attend church services & help with readings.

Let me just say that anywhere on this planet where
religion and government are one as a governing body
you have totalitarianism,i.e.Saudi Arabia,Libya,Iran,
Yemen,Syria,etc... and then in the land where you
have over 1,000 gods, you have abject poverty and
Atomic bombs,in this land of ours we don't need crosses
on the streets and buildings to remind us of our duty to
our land and children,go to church and give to charity.Amen

The separation of church and state is just something the government uses when it is convienient to them. They put In God we trust on themoney. They try to tell you in court that you have to put your hand on a bible and swear in that court room that your going to tell the truth. Where is the separation except for the fact that Christian schools are not government funded?

You are true. The Founding Fathers didn't want the government to rule the church but non-believers switch it up. I always wonder what the US would be like if we would allow God back into the government. How much society would be better if God was a part of it. Makes me wish that the Founding Fathers were still around.
