Because they lack the responsiblity. At age 18, one becomes legally responsible for their actions. Anyone who is not legally responsible for their actions cannot be allowed to chose who will lead.

So because you do not agree with me you are immature? That is your basis? Now the reason the youth cannot vote is because they are immature..hence cannot exercise control over the country..you want someone who thinks getting an F in class, buying $100 jeans because they are "hip", wears pants at knee and then 70 inches of underwear between armpits to jeans for "style" is the right person to decide who is president?
This sounds like a question someone under 18 would make..proving the whole point of why minors cannot vote. You wanna vote..move out of home and support yourself 100% then you can be equals with adults
if you live at home..be quiet
if you have parents buy clothes..be quiet
if you use family car...be quiet

If we all vote for the same person then there would be no point in voting...you vote for who you believe will represent how you feel about the issues at hand, not because they are the better person for the job, although you should vote for who is best...I'm sad to say that is just not what happens.
I do agree with you though maybe not a full vote, think about back when women and black's votes didn't count as a whole...do that for the youth of this country I'd be interested to see how that turns out, but at what age could you vote...I say when your in high school and have some type of education about what your really partaking in.

Young people are politically naieve, even the intelligent ones. I read a few books and became a believer in communism in my teens. What a fool I was back then. Under 18s should not be allowed to vote. Politics is a serious business where descisions are made that effect people's freedom and way of life. Kids should not be given that power.

You need to experience the pain inflicted on you by a government in regard to social, international and domestic issues before you are qualified to offer an objective voting opinion. I can`t see an 18 year old having a hard enogh life to be honest. Or worldly wise for that matter. Seems a bit odd that you can join the forces and get shot to hell for a government you can`t even vote for.

Honestly, I don't know why they don't raise the age to 21. 18 year olds still have their heads way up their butts. If people all voted for the same person, then that would eliminate the need for an election, being mature is being entitiled to your own opinion and using that power wisely.

Voting at 18 is a passage into adult hood. There are some kids out there who do take responsibility seriously and there are some who screw around. 18 is when most kids graduate from high school so it makes sense to allow them to vote when they graduate.

Age for voting used to be 21 years old, but that changed to 18 yrs. but with good reasoning. Eighteen yr olds said,"If we are old enough to Die for your Country, We should be old enough to Vote" I do not think u can join the Military at 17, until to can say that u cannot Vote. My Opinion

You can't have those rights because your still the responsibility of your parents, everything you do right or wrong is the responsibility of the parents, when that ends at 18 your can vote.
