He didn't. This is a lie of the devil: "Ye shall surely not die"
When we die, we die and rest or sleep in the grave, and await the return of the Lord where he will raise us all from the dead (even the wicked)
The Good will be with Christ forever. The wicked will be destroyed, but before they are God will tell them why they are being destroyed and they will bow the knee and say "just and true are thy ways oh Lord"
WE DO NOT HAVE IMMORTAL SOULS, ONLY GOD DOES.

The Bible states: “Even time indefinite God has put in their heart, that mankind may never find out the work that the true God has made from the start to the finish.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11) These words indicate that God implanted in us the idea of living forever. For that matter, we would always have something to learn about God and his works. If we lived for untold billions of years—yes, forever—we would always be able to learn more about the marvels of God’s creative works.
“The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”—Psalm 37:29.
The words of Jesus Christ also show that eternal human life is possible. He said: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3.) What about you? Do you want to live forever?

The Bhagavad Gita descibes that the atma (soul) passes through various bodies even in this life: from childhood, to youth to old age. And that similarly it passes into another body at the time of death. This body is temporary, but the atma - the self - is eternal. That is what distinguishes matter from spirit.
We last for ever because we are in quality the same as God, but in quantity we are infinitesimal. Just like the drop of water and the ocean. When we realize our eternal nature then we can become actually happy.

Our souls last forever so that we continue to learn and grow. We couldn't move forward if we kept starting from the beginning.

Minor inconveniences of death prevent the forever part, but god didn't make us. How can something that does not exist (god), create life? Go ahead, find me the bible passages and quote them all....hahahahaha.
