There's a great book called 'The easy way to stop smoking'

If that doesn't work then try the method I recommend. First. think about it each time you smoke a cigarette. You will realise that every so often, your body/mind thinks it needs something, and your answer is a cigarette. But in actual fact, you know that it's not a cigarette that it needed, because a few minutes later, you need another.
So when you think you want a cigarette, think about what it is that you really want. Buy lots of different things so they are lying around, like nuts, and fruit, and snacks and drinks.. When the feeling comes on, think do I really want a cigarette, or would I prefer one of these other things. Then, when you've got used to that way of thinking, pick a date and time to stop, and build up your will power . Choose a time when you can be away from people who smoke for three days or so. Then go for it. If you manage three days, then you've discovered a method which works. Just stick to it, and change your habits so that you don't buy any cigarettes, and you don't spend time with people who smoke. I'm sure you can do it

Zyban might be helpful, especially if used along with the Nicotrol inhaler (both only available with perscription). You might also consider the patch. That worked well for me and I was one of those people who always said "Quitting is easy. I should know. I've done it a hundred times." Once you put the patch on, YOU CANNOT SMOKE! It can cause someone who is in good health to have a heart attack. That isn't a joke. I actually know people that that happened to. If you take the patch off, you still have to wait 2 hours before it's safe to smoke. That's plently of time to figure out it isn't worth lighting up. Just decide to put a new patch on the second you get up each morning. It can take months for the idea that you are now a non-smoker to set in (sometimes years). Also try reading an ebook called "Stop Smoking: Break the Chain" by Mark Jordan. It gets into the psychological aspects of addiction (fighting that voice in your head that says it's OK to have just one when we're stressed) and gives and added kick to kicking the habit. Good luck! Keep telling yourself over and over again "Other people have done it! It can be done! I can do it too!"

Ive heard of people who simply said: from now on, im a non-smoker! they didnt use any pills, shots, etc. They just decided to stop. You dont do that gradually, but radically. If you want and it is possible, isolate yourself for some time at home. It will be very difficult at first, but than you will be happy and satisfied with yourself! It might be a good idea to motivate yourself. Like: If i wont smoke for one day, ill get a small chcolate. If i wont smoke for a week... for a month, half a year... year...
What about cigarette funeral? Take a box of your cigs and bury them in your backyard!
Well, hope it helped at least a bit, good luck!

I quit using the nicotine patch. It took a couple tries, but eventually I just got sick of "trying" to quit, and just did it. It was helpful to me to make a list of all the reasons why I wanted to quit. I carried the list in my purse and read it whenever I was tempted to smoke. It reminded me of why I was doing this in the first place. I also avoided things that I associated with smoking for a couple months, like going to the bar, going out to eat... I threw away all my lighters and ashtrays. I cleaned my house and car so that they didn't smell like smoke anymore. I wouldn't start with something like a prescription or a shot just yet. Try quitting cold turkey first. If that doesn't work, try using the patch or the gum. If that doesn't work, then go to your doctor. Good Luck!!!!!!

i gave up smoking 31/2 years ago-after being a smoker for 16 years.we were the type of people that always had a cigerette, there use to be a joke at our house that we would probably die with a cigerette hanging out of our mouths,it was the norm for everyone to see these 2(husband and wife team)smoking all day like it was some sort of great need to get by in life.
Then my mother in law was diagnosed with cancer, she was 58 years old and had smoked for forty years, she was riddled with it lung, pancreas etc. we nursed her and watched her die.
she died surrounded by us family menbers,we slept on floors at the hospice and took turns to watch her ,rub her feet, and care for a much loved person, the hardest thing was watching her breathe, a person whos lungs are failing fast and cannot breathe is devasting to watch.SMOKING KILLS it really does.i would never wish upon anyone to ever go through what we went through for 3 months until she died, she did not deserve to go out like that, and it destroyed our lives..we looked at our kids and decided ,hell no!were not going to do that to them.we both have now been smoke free for 31/2 years. we will never go back .there is memories of the days but no desire becasue there is also another memory, and that is a dying woman who was a "slave"to the cigarette.there are no more stenches , there are no more dirty ashtrays, no more, cost of cigarettes, no more worries,no more breathing problems. the health benefits from giving up smoking are amazing, the piece of mind you get from giving up smoking is amazing. Please if you could do one great thing this year -make it to become smoke free, trust me life still goes on, you still do the same things in life the only thing that changes is that you are no longer a "slave"to the smoke, it is deadly,it is nasty, and it will get you.one way or the other.we miss her very much and wish we could have her with us , we wish that when she started coughing irratically 4 years before being diagnosed that everyone didnt dismiss it as"smokers cough" my kids have seen first hand what smoking does, they took turns in nursing as well and are a credit to their grandmother. one thing im very glad of is that they will never become "slaves "to cigarettes.
be strong,be wise, and care for yourself enough to kick it!it will take time, you need to find something else to do instead, this takes a massive amount of willpower, youve made a start, now do yourself proud and say goodbye to foul smelling killing, cigs.YOU CAN DO IT.........

I quit 3 years ago me secret was just quit throw away whatever you have left preferably a whole pack because then you realize how much money your are wasting. Then you want to keep up your routine if you have smoke breaks at work continue to go outside with your usual smoker buddy. You will then start to realize how bad you smell when you walk back in the building with them. Eventually it will not bother you anymore. The key is you really have to want to quit cause if you don't then don't bother trying.

Calamus /magnolia/ myrtle leaves and seed / skullcap/ vervain/ peppermint catnip /valerian /motherwort .what i took was LOBELIA [ lobeloa inflata] or comon name Indian tobacco. Remember that you have to stop paying the tobacco companies in helping them in killing you slowly . I stopped, it took three times .It`s not easies try to put the money in a jar before you spend it on you know what .! it`s been seven years now and saving $1000 a year or more it adds up and then treat yourself . reminder wash every thing throw and stay away from smokers and then you`ll smell cleaner then like a ash tray or a cig but . Good luck

I have been chewing Nicorette for about 5 years now, so don't follow that path. For me, it is not Nicoteen cravings....it is having some kind of vice to take a break.

I heard about this laser treatment that is helping so many people. Google for information "Laser treatment to quit smoking" and I am sure you will find your way. After the laser treatment, take up another vice, like chewing gum.....not nicorette, but regular gum.

I think that by going slow and taking nicotine gum you could get off smoking. I too have the same problem and I began to decrease my ciggaretts a day and along with it I took special pills that help me get of the addiction.
