I like Pinnacle Studio. It is used in professional production. It can edit HD video, when HD camcorders get to the market and can be reasonably priced. It does all the standard video edits. It has several transitions, fades, etc.

There are two video tracks for overlay video. It has sound effect track, music track, photo overlay track and the video tape has its own audio track too.

The version 10 has DVD authoring with many preset DVD menu schemes.

I used an earlier version and I had to edit the video with Studio and then author my DVD with another program using the video I edited in Studio. I am really happy with Version 10 that does both functions.

There are several good quality editing packages. I've used Avid and Adobe Premiere. I prefer Premiere. I've heard Ulead has a decent program, but I've never used it...Good luck!

I've used Microsoft Movie Maker and Nero VisionExpress. I prefer Nero...BUT, I heard that Adobe Premier is actually better.
