I've just starting to use contraseptive pills and I'm putting on weight too fast. I used to be slender and slim but now i'm full and still going. Will my boyfriend of 2 years relationship leave me? I'm not ready to have a family so i can't stop taking the pills. Condoms are a no no and i love my boyfriend. Do i change the pills? What am i to do?

If he really loves you and you have a good relationship then no he wont leave you just for putting on weight. However, the pill should not put on that much weight if any so I suggest you speak to your doctor about this problem and he will prescribe you a different pill more suited to you or he may want to do some tests if it is a sudden weight gain and quite a lot as this is not really normal unless you are eating more and exercising less.

Life is usually a compromise, here you are compromising being alittle heavier with not having a child before you are ready.

There is a wealth of safe and reliable birth control methods out there, and not all of them have weight gain involved with it. You need to have a frank talk with your doctor, or Planned Parenthood and see about other methods that may work better for you.

And this is just some free advice, but if your b/f is so shallow that alittle weight gain will turn him off, you need to find a real man, not alittle boy.

I get the depo shot. I found that it doesn't put as much weight on as pills do. Also I think if he leaves you for protecting yourself, and ultimatly him as well, then he doesn't LOVE you. If you workout and eat right it helps also. I know we all have busy lives, but if you want to keep the weight off and stay on the pill, you only have a few alternatives.

there are loads of opptions for the pill. talk to your doctor about your gaining weight - you may be recievîng too much of one of the hormones and that can be changed. you will then naturally slim down again. But if you're comfortable with your body, don't let some man stop you from being happy with yourself just to have him stick around.

Hope that helps.

If he does, then he wasn't worth your time and you need to move on to someone who will appreciate your unique loveliness.
As for the pills, talk to your doctor and see if there is another form of birth control you can use that doesn't have such an adverse side effect. Today, women have many options when it comes to birth control. Learn which one is the best option for you and use it.
Good luck

There are other contraceptives that work as well and you will not have the weight gain, IUD, and diaphragms come to mind. Contact your local planned parenthood office, or your Dr., I'm sure they can help you choose the right contraceptive. I also have to wonder if your boyfriend left you for weight gain, is he in love with you or your body.

if he leaves you he never loved you....u gain weight so he decides to leave- then it shows ur bf for two years is VERY shallow and an *** and that this whole time you were wasting YOUR time..if he cares about your future he would respect your choice of staying on the pill and the weight gain shouldnt be a bigger problem then what it really is

After two years he probably won't want to leave you, but he'll find you less attractive and his eyes may wander. You should look into medicine that you both can live with. Also you might tell him why you're putting on weight so he doesn't get nervous about it.

You will have to start using condoms and stop taking the pills. Guys dont enjoy fat women, they can tell you that you look fine and all but deep down they dont like it and will probably look for it elsware.

There are other birth control options. But does it not make sense to possibly work out to combat the weight gain? If this is also a no no, consult your doctor for other options.
