For feeding and sleeping, how old do you think a baby/child, if ever should be scheduled. I put my child on a sleeping schedule at 2 months and he responded beautifully, I breast fed until he was 6 months and waited until we were done to get him on a bottle schedule and he was on a solid food schedule as soon as he started. What have you done, or planning on doing?

I learned with my first two that schedules make my life better. So my third child was on a schedule from birth. Things like snack, bath, and bed were always set times. Feedings were as needed, as were naps. Once she ate table food and was a year old, feedings and naps were on a schedule too. My kids are all bigger now and I still keep my house on a schedule. Nothing crazy, but it helps everyone know when things happen. My family knows when to not call because its dinner, my kids wake up easily each morning because they had enough sleep and get up everyday at the same time. My husband knows when dinner will be on the table. It helps me keep a crazy house half decent and more organized.

I think it is good to a point. I agree a child should be on a schedule, but not a strict one. Like freaking out because your child ate at 1:00 instead of 12. For the first year of the child's life, the child will set the schedule will be set for you.

I've always followed routines, not a set schedule. And we followed them from the day my son came home. Everything was done in the same order, but not always at the same time. And as he has grown, he lets me know when the routine needs adjusting.
Alot of times, moms/families are already following a routine but don't realize it. We are all born creatures of habit - we like to know what's coming next.

I never did schedules with my babies. I let them set their own natural patterns and followed their lead to meet their needs.
