LMAO! youre living in england and youre worried about crime in West OZ!!!!!!! (or Oz at all for that matter)
hun thats like an Amercian worried about finding fruit at KFC.......its not gunna happen!!!!!!

West Oz is a booming state, mountains of work in the mines and construction, excellent wages and very cheap housing, the city of perth is spotless and the people are great!

Perth Australia Crime Rate

I don't know if there would be much difference in crime rates between england and perth. Are you sure that crime rates are increasing in england? If you watched some of the 6:30 tabloid 'current affairs' shows here in Perth you would form the impression that crime rates were getting worse and worse. But the actual statistics show that crime rates have been decreasing since people first stepped off the boats.

But you'd be very welcome if you do decide to move out here. If crime's your main concern, and as you'll have almighty pounds, go for the more expensive 'western suburbs' around nedlands, or if not, the hills. I believe those areas have the lowest crime rates.

If I were 25, I'd choose Melbourne. If I were 55, I'd choose Perth. Melbourne is much more lively. It's got a great international vibe. Perth is a little inward-looking and very hard to do any decent travel from. Rent-wise, Melbourne was more, but you could usually do better with the income and come out ahead. Things are changing rapidly there though - Perth is booming, but the money for dental nurses may not be... Perth might be nicer for a visit (very pretty, relaxed), but to live I'd have to recommend Melbourne.

It is a great place to raise a family, and despite popular belief, there is a lot of things for families to do. The people that say "It's boring, or the most boring place" tend to forget that Sundays were supposed to be meant for family time. In the Perth area they close up shop and you find limited places open on Sundays.. so what.. It's the one day you can actually relax. I am from the High Maintenanced, Fast Paced part of the US. There are not far spans of area, depending on where you live, you have the shops right there. It's not like the Alice where you need a cut lunch and a water bottle.

The crime is minimal. There are the isolated incidents.. but where I live its family friendly and everyone looks out for each other.. I would not think of any other place to raise my children. I have a toddler and a teenager, and I can trust my teen to walk to the store and my toddler to play in my yard without stray bullets, kidnappings, etc.

I moved to Perth from London just over a year ago. I must say that crime is not a concern here at all. There are a couple of areas in town you should avoid at night time but otherwise it is really safe and a great place to bring up kids. But at the same time this is the most boring place I have ever lived in. I cannot wait to move over the east coast in the new year!!!

Been to Perth several times (I live IN South Aust.) and a very nice city> Crime rates are low, good paying jobs r easy to get, (mining industry in particular, but not in Perth itself.) Housing is cheap by English standards, the weather is pretty good and the life style is very good. Beaches r as good as any and some of the scenery is outstanding. The downside, in my opinion is that in Western Australia, once u leave Perth and the coast there is not much else. Small towns of 2 to 3 thousand people all 100 miles apart, Traffic is easy but too many one way streets.
U could do worse!

Well, believe it or not, an American is about to tell you all there is to know about Australia. (not all, but enough to help you here)
Perth is a bustling (and expanding) city. I personally found Freemantle sluggish and uninteresting. (the little town directly next to Perth). Perth itself was a pleasant city. The people were alright from the encounters I had. Do you have some element directing you to Perth only? Or can you pick and choose any place in Australia you wish? Perth would be my choice if you're looking for a progressive metropolis that isn't overcrowded like Sydney. However...if I was moving to Australia...I would buy a place in Hobart, Tasmania. It's a perfectly sleepy little town on the southern end of that heart-shaped island to the south of the "mainland" as they call it. It's perfect for kids with just enough development to keep you from getting bored. Good luck.

There is no crime here in Australia at all. We do not have any poor people either. I think some-one stole an apple from Mrs Macquarie's garden once but the locals killed him and threw him to the Kangaroos. Apart from that there is nothing to worry about.... Oh just don't venture out on your own in Queensland. Its well known that we kill all tourists so make sure you wear a hat with corks on it and finish each sentence like you are asking a question...... Good luck x
