Some Christians on this site seem to think that because I've asked a lot of questions about Christianity that in some way i need the help and guidance they get from their holy book. Nothing could be further from the truth.I am just curious as to why you believe in something that is for the most part illogical. Most of the answers I've received from believers have been either rants from the Bible, telling me to read the Bible or just that I'm gonna burn in hell. I just wanted to see if I could get to the person behind the book but it seems you are all happy in your ignorance behind that great barrier called religion..... have a nice life

Arguing, talking, or questioning a fundamentalist Christian is like playing chess with a pigeon, they knock over all the pieces, crap on the board, then fly home to their flock to declare victory

Hi, I agree with you that getting a simple, straightforward answer from a religious person is almost impossible. However, I do believe myself and it is hard to explain, just a feeling that makes me feel good - it seems illogical to me at times but there you are, it is a personal thing and I do not believe anyone is going to burn in hell or be dammed forever. The bible tells us God is loving and merciful - take it from there.

It seems ALL religions kick off whenever someone asks a question about their faith. Some assume you're interested because you're thinking of joining, others assume you've asked deliberately to provoke an attack and very few answer the question from an unbiased and neutral viewpoint. Even the atheists get their knickers/boxers in a twist. Good luck with your answers here!

There are some things that cant be looked at from a logical point of view. There are somethings that will need to be felt and experienced that are inexplicable. Something me or some one else may feel inside that we can only tell yo about, whether you believe or not is up to you. I believe there is a higher power involved in our making and in our life, their are spirit guides helping all of us whether we acknowledge them or not. Again I could tell you a doctor about a pain I have inside and you may not be able to see it or find out what it is hurting me, but it doesn't take away from the fact that its there and I'm feeling it.

It is hard to know the main character in any book if you have not read it yourself. I am a Christian and while I would like to see everyone saved, I know it is not possible. Therefore I choose to debate and banter with people of all faiths in order to continue testing my own. Whether you burn in hell or not is between you and GOD. I have enough things to correct in my own life to even begins picking someone else's misdeeds apart. That being said, I pray you find whatever answer you are looking for even if it purely scientific in nature.

Well I can give you my testimony if you like but if you have already made up your mind that all Christians are wrong and there is no God, then maybe you should question your motives for asking. Is it seeking, or just winding Christians up?
My testimony.....I'm in the UK, always have been. I wasn't raised in any faith but to have an open mind and accept all people for what they are. My mother was a man-hater and consequently I grew up an independent-minded feminist. My favourite pastime was flirting (I was famous for it) and then putting the victim firmly in his place. I got married and had kids but didn't stop the flirting and seriously put my marriage in jeopardy. The few Christians I met didn't convince me of anything, in fact I felt sorry for them, boring and deluded, needing a crutch to get through life. I needed one too in the end, and instead of the crutches of alcohol, sex or drugs I took anti depressants.
Then one of my friends, whom I'd known about a year or so, invited me to her baptism, on the beach. I went along because it was obviously so important to her, but this was my first time amongst the happy clappy brigade and frankly I was uncomfortable. The churches I had been in were all quiet, dark, sombre affairs, so all this joy and jumping about was a bit of a suprise.
Anyway, I listened to the testimonies (like this one) of those who were getting baptised that day. They all talked about having a real relationship with a living Jesus, who they knew personally. This was new to me, and on it's own not enough to make me want to be a Christian, but something was stirring inside of me. After the testimonies, the pastor did a talk on all the miserable people in the world who were relying on stuff like drugs to keep them going, because trying to live our own way makes us mess up. I felt at that point like he was talking to me alone. I stayed quiet but started crying. I realised then that I was in sin, trying to live apart from God. Remember nobody had brought me up to think about sin so this was a revelation. He then asked if anyone wanted to be blessed by Jesus to raise their hand. Now I knew what my husband back home would say if I did, but somehow up went my hand and then 'BANG' I was flooded with the most amazing loving feeling I've ever felt, like being filled with pure love, and knew without a doubt that God was there, had always been there, and would always take care of me. I stayed on this spiritual high for 3 days! I didn't fall over or scream out or anything, in fact nobody explained that I'd been baptised in the Holy spirit until some time later. I gave my life to Jesus that day and haven't been let down by Him yet. My depression was also healed in that moment, without anyone praying for me.
Whatever people say about the Bible, I said it once. Whatever people say about suffering, other faiths, contradictions, evolution, Hell and sin, I've studied it and found it to be lacking substance. Once you have met Jesus you simply can't deny Him. He has used me to heal and has promised to use me in reaching more peole the way He reached me.
I don't know if you will ever let God touch your heart, but if He ever knocks on your door, forget everything you think you know about Him and just KNOW Him.
