We have 3 dogs- 2 Neapolitan mastiffs and a weimaraner. One mastiff and the weim are female- all of them have been spayed /neutered. We have a VERY occasional rift usually between the girls over a bone or a place on the couch. The huge (200 lb) older male mastiff is a very mellow, peace loving dude.No problems here. The girls are younger, each almost 2 yrs., that's probably why the arguing. You need to keep to a regular schedule with exercise, feeding and play time. Invest in a high quality vacume cleaner and remember that if you take 5 minutes to vacume and sweep the hair every day-it's not so overwhelming. Also, the dogs will determine who is the boss among themselves. Might not be the one YOU want, but that's the way it goes. Have fun and love them!!!!!

We have 5 American Pit Bull Terriers and all live in the house. We have rescues from time to time. We have onlt had one issue and it was about a month after we got a rescue dog in. At first they were fine together (both are females) but one day the rescue just said enough. Both her and our own dog are both dominant and the rescue was tired of submitting. After seperated both were place in cages in the house. We have them both still but we do not let them together. What we have done is a rotation. 1 dog is out with all the others for an hour, then we change them out. Since that time we have invested in muzzles as a just incase measure. Other than that we have had two litters born in our home and not issues between the mothers, you know dogs a curious and wanting to look and see what is going on but as long as we are there and monitor the dogs everything has been fine.
Multipal dogs can live in a home together and be happy as long as the owner uses common sence, makes sure you have proper equipment like muzzles and leashes and takes proper measures to ensure the safty of all the dogs. :)

I have three dogs, two German Shepherds and a mini dachshund. The dachshund is the maniac, but she's a rescue, so we're working on that. I have to say, they do very well together. The dachshund tends to be a barker, so she'll get the other two going sometimes. Walking them is a challenge. I usually take the shepherds together and the squirt by herself. Or if it's too traumatic for her to be "alone" (my husband is with her, but that doesn't count, because her big brothers are out doing something without her), I usually go for three walks. It wears them out and it's good exercise for them and yours truly. It's good one-on-one time to practice training, too!

There have been a few spats over Nylabones. She does very nicely with the king size ones. She's adapted herself to all the toys being big in the house. Dachshund size means the shepherds can swallow them, so everything is bigger than normal for her. When they do have their bones, the shepherd's aren't the problem. The squirt will let anyone human take it from her just not the other dogs. When we first got her, she'd even guard the table and attack them if we were setting the table for dinner. We were able to solve that problem fairly quickly, and she's fine now. As far as the bones go, the shepherds don't bother her anymore. They are never unsupervised with the bones, by the way. I think they think she's a little psycho! LOL! They were raised with our old dachshund, so they know they can be a little temperamental. In my opinion, anyone who lives with a dachshund has to make adjustments! :)

I have had three and four at one time.
I work as a dog trainer and I foster for a Doberman rescue.
Mostly when I have fosters they are allowed to play outside together and sometimes in the house. If I hve two males one male is crated when the other is out. I have been able to have two females together and not had them fight but both have been spayed and both liked other dogs.
I feed everyone seperately. Mine in one room in different corners and the fosters in a crate.
I had a bad dog fight in the house once. Two males Dobes They fought for about 30 minutes. I threw water on them I broke a broom handle on them I had blood on the wlls and the carpet and furniture and the ceiling. It was horrible. Both lived and were fine but now I very rarely trust two males together and NEVER unsupervised. These dogs had lived with each other for 2 years.
I have no clue what caused the fight there was no food or toys or anything.
Three is hard but can be done but you have to be careful and set the rules and follow them to the letter all the time. Routine is the key with dogs. Do everything the same every time and it makes it easier.

I've got three large dogs at the moment but usually have four or five (two teenagers passed on of old age recently 13 & 15). All are Anatolians and live outside together in a fenced area. Mine are welcome inside but prefer being outside. Mine have long fuses, are very tolerant and I really don't have problems with them. If something comes up, a spat rarely last more than a few seconds and is mostly posturing -- like wolves. So we we don't really have "issues". Knock on wood. :)

I have 3 greyhounds so I don't have any horror stories to tell. Greyhounds are the easiest breed to live with that I've ever had so other than teaching them about living in a house when they first came, they don't have any issues.

I have five dogs of my own and foster for rescues. All of my dogs bicker with each other. If they would work together they would be a force to be reckoned with but instead they fight over who is going to get the person on the other side of the fence.

One girl I volunteer with carries a broom handle around with her to break up fights.

I have another friend that has four of her own and two of them can not look at each other. They have sent the entire family to the hospital at one time or another.

Another girl has 5 dogs and two are in the hospital now because a foster dog tried to kill them. He went after her old ones and not the dumb dane??

My neighbor has four dogs and my five want to kill the weiner dog. To the point they call one of mine cujo because he took a piece of my fence in his mouth tore it off and threw it behind him to get through the fence one day.

What kinds of problems are you having?
