I agree that there is lots of great Cremant all over France and it's a great value. I happen right now to be drinking a nice blanc de blanc Cremant de Bourgogne for less than $20/bottle and it's awesome. You might also want to try some of Italy's great sparkling wines - for champagne style, try Franciacorta from Lombardia in northern Italy. Great value, great drink.
That said, great champagne is qualitatively different from other sparkling wine. Is that taste difference worth paying 2.5x or more? That's hard to say. Is it driven by supply/demand and brand recognition? Probably, to some degree. Fortunately champage is comparatively inexpensive compared to still wine from bourgogne, so it does not hurt (too much) to splurge for good champagne now and then for a special occasion.

Each to his own.
There are many excellent sparkling wines made all over the world, some are as good as, and some are better than Champagne, but what they all have in common are that they are not Champagne.
Where I am the difference in price between Cremant d'Alsace and Champagne is minimal -- there are many discount offers on Champagne, so why not drink the real thing?

they have too much money and are desperate to impress! But they don't impress me. I once worked in a restaurant where a guy ordered 5 bottles of the stuff, and left most of it. We finished it off in the kitchen and it is definitely overpriced at £100 a bottle! He impressed nobody -in fact the majority of people where I live couldn't stand him. I think he's in prison now, so he's definitely a dumb perignon!

How about the concept that the speaker, through alluding that your visual allure is more beneficial significant, and all that concerns, above your pals and mind, has in fact suggested that he/she is a moron. Y/A and dealing a weblog on 360 are spectacular concepts to sharpen your recommendations, and strengthen your creativity. per chance the speaker doesn't like imaginative or wise women?

I think some people buy certain drinks because of the name attached to them.
