Yes, i believe that the bible huggers out here, need to prove their religion is the right one, they have been blinded by the purpose of their religion in the first place. I am an atheist, but understand why people follow religions. They all claim to be based on peace, love and understanding, but they all claim to follow the one "TRUE" god, that cracks me up, they all follow the true god and everyone else is wrong. That way, they don't have to be accountable for their wrongs. Its the easy way out.

Yeah, I've seen that a lot here. I'm surprised there are that many people with that, well, disturbed belief. But I guess that we shouldn't be - it's a powerful way for religious belief systems to defend themselves.

It's also a very good reason to see religious fundamentalism as a serious threat. Occasionally someone asks why the rest of us don't think that Islam is the biggest threat to our security. Here's the answer. If Christian religious fundamentalists already in the United States (and maybe even already in our government and military) sincerely think that we are Satan's tools, Islamic fundamentalism is the least of our worries. The anti-abortion killings, the Atlanta Olympic bombing and the attacks on Michael Schaivo are clear examples of Christian fundamentalist terrorism by people right here in the States. If our efforts to fight Islamic-based terrorism mean strengthening Christian fundamentalism, they're not buying us any security.

Many christians are actually taught..... that reason in itself is of satan. this is exactly how some people teach on reason in the churches. As directly as i just said it.
Many are taught that the first thought that comes into their mind is the voice of God, the second is the voice of satan and the third is their own 'reasoning' that trys to work it out. Essentially teaching them to not give in to reason. sounds weird but that is what is taught to many many christians. Not all christians however. Other christians that are not taught this doctrine seem to take any reason as a threat anyway. and reason to religion is most often a threat. Many of them while feeling threatened actually believe it is the words of Satan coming through your mouth. The ways of the world is interpreted as the ways of Satan
when christians believe they can burn in hell for all eternity for following the words of satan, then its completely rational not to listen to 'satans'. Problem is the religion/premises is not true.
In order to reach them, you may have to let them attempt reaching you so as to not seem to threatening.
Many ARE that far gone. And they also have alot of influence in the laws and government. Many would like us all to be unreasonable and ignorant. Makes it easier to control us.
EDIT:
"The wisdom of the world is foolishness to God" "The fools will confound the wise"
these christians seem to forget that in Jesus time, religion and superstition ruled the people. these words are directed at the religous and superstitous. cast down your vain imaginations people.

If you figure this one out I'll mail ya a nickle. It would seem they would have the intelligence enough to look around themselves and ask "Is it even remotely reasonable that God would give me exclusivity to all truth?" I mean through all the ages of time, changes of holy writings, conflicting scriptures, extremely complex interpretations the common man can't get on his own, etc, etc, etc, They believe themselves above everyone else have found the one and only way. God thinks so highly of them that he has reveled to them ultimate unarguable truth. Pleeeeeease! get real. If you can't qualify yourself as maybe being wrong and your beliefs as YOUR beliefs and not necessarily fact, then you are nothing more than a ramped egotist.

It not healthy at all, of all religions I find that Christians are the most belligerent. You may talk about Muslim extremists, but Christians killed a lot more people that Muslims have. Lets see, the inquisition, witch hunts, stonings, and oh yeah, the Crusades.
They are the least forgiving and hypocritical people I have ever seen because they cant live and let live and let God sort it out.

Christians are people, some may have of the wall views, most Christians just won't you to know Christ as your savior so that you can know God.

You see us as having hardline views or being ignorant and we see you as lost and living for eternity without God, we care about you. If God loved you enough to die for you, we see value in your life and wish nothing more than to see you come to know Jesus.

Please forgive those who have offended you and think about how you wish to spend eternity. I hope you choose to spend it in fellowship with God.

God Bless.

By they way most of us understand where your views come from, have you ever tried to understand where our views come from. Many think they come from a fabel or a book written by men.

My views come from a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit. I am taught the truth within Gods Word because I am filled with the Holy Spirit and he can teach me.

Without a relationship with God through Jesus and the guidence of the Holy Spirit, a man can study all knowledge and be ignorant, he can be wise in what society's tell him is true and be blind to reality.

The word of God says the wisdom of man is foolishness in Gods eyes, but I have a feeling you stand strongly in the wisdom of men.

When you were a child you may have believed in Santa, that was your truth, now you trust in science, that is your truth.

I trust in God and the Spirit of Truth, I will stand in Christ.

God Bless.

You know my friend when your drive is merely to undermine them, that is an urge of satan to undermine and lead astray children of God,
There is no love in that desire. If you want to know the truth and you are a searcher be open to the truth, open your mind to debat and realise evidence as what it is,

it is you who are running from the commitment to God, it is you who are scared if you cannot accept the truth.

Don't put your trust in some bloke/student who went to uni. got a job hates the church and wants to poison yor mind against God.

You know God is real, b cool. Much Love.

When !esus was talking with the religious leaders of His age He said in John 8:43 "Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. 44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. "
Jesus knew where the source of antagonizism againts Him came from and was not afraid to rebuke it.
Thant's pretty potent speaking, and He is our Lord.

The question works the other way around too. Why are non-spiritual people so quick to say that they have evidence in favor of their OWN beliefs of the non-existence of God, when there can't and won't ever be?

because the more religious a person is the more they start to ignore the basics of their religion I believe that the basic bottom line of most religions, christian,Jewish, muslin is love to your fellow man and forgiveness, these super religious types and all faiths have them forget all this and anyone who disagrees with them is down as the spawn of Satan, they forget their roots. fanatics who blow themselves up are the extremes of this
