Chase, it is your choice ok, and no one Else. You have to ask some questions to the recruiters, that is your right! I'll just give you some ideas:
1. What do I want in life?
2. What branch of service can support what I want in life?
3. What do I like to do (electronics, computers, adventure, etc.)?
4. What branch of service support what you like to do?
5. Do you have career goals now? Or do you just want to serve your country and learn a trade/skill/travel/kill terrorist?
After you answer these questions, it will help you decide on which way to go. All branches are equally respectful, ok!
I thank you for serving your country.

Hey it's not just rivalry! Marines are the best. What other branch demands so much respect? Join what branch you feel most comfortable in...if that makes sense to you. I'm not a quiet person, I'm not a quitter. I want to be challenged and do what others can't. So I joined the Marine Corps. If you don't like physically and mentally challenging things everyday, then the Corps might not be for you. Talk to all the different recruiters, when you get to the branch you want you will know. Good luck.....I hope you join the Marine Corps....Every branch gets paid the same, gets the same medical and every branch pays for school...all of it. Some branches give bigger bonuses. But think about the pride!
PS Marines have the best looking uniform.

You just have to remember 3 things.
1) The rivalry will ALWAYS be there. I was Army, and my brothers were Air Force (Air Farce) and Navy (Squid). I have a cousin that is in the Marines (Jarhead), my uncle was USAF (fly by night), and my grandfather was Army. Think that our family reunions are fun?
2) The grass in ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence. If you join the Air Force, the Army has better training, the Navy travels more, and the Marines are more hard core. If you join the Army, then the USAF treats their people better, the Navy is a joke, and the Marines are wanna-be's *L*
3) Make sure, like the SGM said, that YOU get the best for YOU. Check out each branch and find out who is going to give you the most (in writing) guaranteed. Once you have that information, then YOU can make the decision.
Good luck, and thanks for thinking of us.

Diamondk hit the nail on the head. Think of what you want to do after you get out. That should be a priority. Then think of your life in the service-what would make you happy while serving.
I was in the Air Force for 18 years and it was very fulfilling. I did not garner the respect as you say, of the Marines, but I did have self-respect. I got to travel all over the world, and learned a trade.
Don't overlook the Coast Guard either. I think if I had to do it all over again, I would have joined the Coast Guard.

All the branches are good. Obviously, the Marines and Army are more physical in their nature, and the Air Force and Navy tend to be more of a mental discipline. All of them have the same jobs, just different atmospheres. Remember, if you go marine, you are a rifleman first, than your job. Talk to each recruiter, find out what each is offering as a bonus in your chosen field, work the deal thats right for you and good luck in basic training and the rest.

Air Force is awesome! All the branches of our military are awesome! I say go with what branch you want to join. The only branches of the military I have been exposed to, has been through family. My father was Air Force, my grandfather was Marine, my brother in-law was Navy, my husband's uncle's (both of them) were both military (one Marines, one Army), and my husband was Army. So I am actually not leaning toward one more than the other. Go with where you want to go.
Thank you for the servants heart you have though! You are appriciated for your choice! :)

There's rivalry in all of the branches. Personally, the Marine Corps has been the best choice for BOTH my son AND my daughter. Yes, it is a tougher boot camp (12 weeks vs. 8 and less in the others) and the expectations are higher, but deservedly, they are the best fighting force of them all because their training requires that of them. Now, being a mother, I don't particularly like that aspect, but what I do like is that they are the most qualified for any situation which is why our country calls on them first. "First in, last out". Choose what makes the most sense for YOU. Whatever your choice, I want to thank you for wanting to serve our great nation....

I wouldnt join the Marines if I were you. I am in the Army and I really like my job. But we dont get treated as well as say the Airforce. I would say look at what kind of career you would like to have and see whether the Army or the Airforce is best suited for that career. Keep in mind also you will make rank in the Army fast but it takes time in the Airforce. Also the airforce is not as physical as we are. But there accomadations are alot better than ours. But I would definetly stay away from the Marines and the Navy thats my personal opinion.

Well, depends on what you're really into. I'd recommend the AF due to the variety of jobs, the bonuses, the quality of life, and the schooling. There is some rivalry with the other services, and yes we're called the "Chair Force", but that's changing. We're getting a little more hard core. Decide what you're really into, and see what the services have to offer. I'll tell you, the AF treats it's people the best.

the best one for you is really up to you. i would avoid the army and the marines, for you will be going to Iraq. navy, coast guard or air force is the best. air force has the best housing. in the navy you could go away for a six month deployment or longer. but you are on a ship not on land and in Iraq.
