English is not my native. I try to write it properly. But I don't master it. Yes, I want people to point at my mistakes, as that is the best way for me to improve and be taken as a native. I don't care how people correct. I need the corrections.
The problem here is that many natives are not able to tell apart words like "they're", "their" and "there". They won't obviously be of much help if they try to correct my bad English.

I know whatcha mean, I only make a comment on a person's spelling if it's so God awful that it looks as if a monkey typed it with their feet. I feel a bit like an ****** because I was pretty harsh with some folks, and it never occurred to me that they could be foreign. But one thing that really pisses me off is when some prick insults you for misspelling one word and being off just by one letter. Pricks.

Being an author myself, it kills me to see people NOT check their spelling. That's what the spell check is for. Did you not go to school for years to have some sort of knowledge? I do understand however, if you are from another country and are just learning the language. So, call me whatever you wish, but yeah I guess I do cringe when people don't "check" themselves.

Hi. I am the spelling / grammar police, sometimes.
What bothers me about it, is if you really want someone to take you seriously, then take the time to read what you wrote. Proofreading is a critical skill, and although it seems boring, re-reading these quick 10 second blurbs is better than sounding like an 11 year old with a text messaging problem.

Writing and spelling are for the benefit of the reader, not the writer.
In order to gain the privilege of being understood, it is the responsibility of the writer to adhere to standard linguistic and grammatical practices.
You are not lucky if the reader or listener is not fluent in one of the six languages you are familiar with.

I completely agree- I think it's a good thing that they're at least trying...
To those that choose to correct them, is it really important for you to call them an "idiot" while doing so?
What really gets to me though, is when people that DO know English type lyke dis, iz not lyke they're tryin 2 save money cuz they're text messegin...arghhh.
