Well, when I was younger I suffered Hyperacidity too. I had it because I drink a lot of softdrinks before. Don't worry, nowadays we have cure for it. You'll be fine just as long as you follow your doctor's advice. Drink what only is advised of you, and yes especially water. I'm not sure if it is permanent or not, mine is temporary. Don't worry about it too much. :)

Hyperacidity will become Peptic ulcer if you do not treat the same. Stop smoking and worrying. Avoid acid forming foods (meat, pulses, etc) and consume more alkaline forming foods (milk and its products). Don't remain hungry. Take few bicuits in between meals. Avoid foods that causes more acidity. Consult a Gastroenterologist.
Please see the webpages on Peptic ulcer and Stomach disease.

Yes, it can be treated. Search on Google, there is quite a bit of information available.
It is usually caused by improper diet - eat more fresh fruits & vegetables and drink plenty of water as this will help.

If you say that you've been "diagnosed" already, it means your doctor knows how to cure you. I had hyperacidity a few years ago and it was cured. Now I am fine...

you need medications to reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces; but first you need an endoscopy to have a look at the stomach
