I suffer from extreme pain in the area below the ribcage in the centre.

you know, hyperacidity is not permanent, so you can relax. all you have to do is eat the right food and in right amount.

Well, when I was younger I suffered Hyperacidity too. I had it because I drink a lot of softdrinks before. Don't worry, nowadays we have cure for it. You'll be fine just as long as you follow your doctor's advice. Drink what only is advised of you, and yes especially water. I'm not sure if it is permanent or not, mine is temporary. Don't worry about it too much. :)

Hyperacidity will become Peptic ulcer if you do not treat the same. Stop smoking and worrying. Avoid acid forming foods (meat, pulses, etc) and consume more alkaline forming foods (milk and its products). Don't remain hungry. Take few bicuits in between meals. Avoid foods that causes more acidity. Consult a Gastroenterologist.

Yes, it can be treated. Search on Google, there is quite a bit of information available.

It is usually caused by improper diet - eat more fresh fruits & vegetables and drink plenty of water as this will help.

If you say that you've been "diagnosed" already, it means your doctor knows how to cure you. I had hyperacidity a few years ago and it was cured. Now I am fine...

drink alot of water to ease some of your pain. Believe in yourself and don't let those doctors make a guinea pig out of you. Eat a healthy vegan diet and you will in time be cured http://www.notmilk.com

If there is a cure then theres a chance that you can get fully cured which i hope you do it shouldn't last forever =] ...

you need medications to reduce the amount of acid the stomach produces; but first you need an endoscopy to have a look at the stomach
