Indian tradition holds that Jesus is actualy buried in Kashmir in a tomb called the rozobal. Its said that he came to India AFTER the crucifixion and lived there until he was around eighty. When he died , a tomb was errected on that place.
The tradition says that he was in India to preach and teach and also to try and gather the remains of the tribes of Israel to him.
Knowing what we know about the crucifixion, the very short time he spent on the cross, the sponge with something (called vinegar in the bible but could have been an intoxicating drug?) on it that straight after he "died". The recovery of the body, only to be treated with aloe and other healing, not imbalming, substances, which is against jewish funeral practice anyway.
If he HAD survived the cross, and people DID survive it too, where would he have gone? Europe? Still very much Roman. Asia? It was an easy journey along the spice route and Jesus' freind Thomas was recorded travelling to India too...

If this was true, and Ive got to say it sounds a lot more likely than the stuff rewritten and censored by the catholics, what would this information do to the church? If Jesus was just a bloke that had some great ideas (ideas that have more in common with buddism than Jewish faith, loving your enemies and the holiness within) and he had upset the Roman system of government too, what would he have done?
I have only recently come across this info myself but I can feel the truth behind it.
What do you think?
Search for rozobal and read all about it.

As a short reply to the answer that says that the bible doesnt tell us where Jesus lived, that is kinda my point. Its well known that the bible as we know it was put together as a book to lead the Holy Roman Empire and as such was written with the benefit of empirical editing. The Indian traditions dont have Jesus as the son of god but as a prophet and a holy man that came from Isreal.

Jesus couldnt afford to go to India?!!
Embalming wasnt invented then??!!
Wow... there are some very ignorant people out there huh?
The spice route was his method of travel and as for embalming and the annointing of bodies... well what do you think his birthday gifts were for? Myrr anybody??

This is really fascinating and there is a great deal of proof too. I have heard a lot of this before backed up by proof too.
Of course Buddha was born in India (now part of Nepal) and India celebrates many Gods and it would have been the place Jesus would have chosen to end his life.
About the Crucifixion, thieves were crucified in those days and many were not left to die, it was the punishment to be put on the cross, humiliated and scorned and then brought down again, similar to many punishment of that time.

Atheist here:

First off, Jesus did live. It is a historical fact that very few historians contemporarily debate. There are writings by Jewish philosophers as well as Romans about Jesus living in this earth. What is disputed is if he was the son of God or not.

Some historians believe that Jesus might not have died on the cross. They point out certain facts such as: dying crucified takes 3 days, but it supposedly took jesus one; they cite that when Jesus supposedly came back, he had scars; they also cite that the word reincarnation means resusitation in the old text. Another one is the fact that the story that he arose to heaven didn't appear until later on.

Historians have gone to India and found that a man who claimed to be Jesus lived there. It makes sense since Jesus said he needed to bring the entire world together, but if he went west, he'd die at the hands of the Roman empire. Another thing they cite is the footprints that they took of this "Jesus." The prints actually mark the same scars a person that has been crucified would have, so it would be impossible to be Thomas who is there because he never was crucified. Another thing they cite is that the coffin is buried in Christian taste by pointing towards the west (or is it east? I forget).

Although it is possible that this is Jesus, it is their holy land, so there is no way to go and dig up the grave to see what is found. It would be interesting to do so, but I don't think it would do much. Followers would say it is faulty science or that God planted that to see if we'd be decieved. Jesus living in India is entirely possible.

Very difficult to say anything certain on such a topic. Yes there are lots of clues and unanswered questions and lot of loopholes. Christians take the gospels I mean the 4 established in the New Testament as the only true accounts of Jesus's life. Yet these 4 Gospels are silent on Jesus's life before his public ministry at the age of 30. There are theories that Jesus visited India before he was crucified!!
There are lots of other clues. But then again they are theories. There is a ruin in the north Indian province of Kashmir that is called Takht-i- Suleimaani, meaning the thone of Solomon. It is a Jewish temple by all means now in ruins, what is a Jewish temple doing in Kashmir, where there has been no recorded jewish population ever? Then many scholars have said that the very teaching of Jesus was very unlike a Jewish Rabbi in that period of History. Jesus talked of a Loving God, universal brotherhood and forgiveness and tried to do away with many forms of formalized worship. Very close to Buddhism. This was some scholars say due to his study of Buddhism during his vist to India. The path of renunciation which jesus demanded from his disciples was unlike Judaism and more like Buddhism. Jesus has also been linked to the esoteric sect the Essenes who dwelt in the Dead Sea region and were highly secretive and known to possess many secret teachings. And yes the disciple Thomas traveled to India and formed a community there which are called Mar Thoma Church in the south Indian state of Kerela, he is supposed to be buried in Mylapore near the Indian city of Chennai. Anyway the discussion and theories will continue, because at the moment there is no evidence of anything.

Well, as a non Chiristian I have not read the bible.

I have only heard stories that in the history of Jesus, for abot 10-12 years (till his age of 30 or so), details about him are not available. In that period he is said to have wandered in Indian soil and learnt many truths.

Couple this with the other story of "3 wise from the east' before the birth of Jesus. It sounds true then.

He is supposed have attained realisation in India before he went back to his land to spread knolwdge acquired.

Hence he might have lived in India during that period.

Interesting theory, another one is that he travelled to South America. Queztecoatal (i think thats how he is spelled) is sometimes depicted as a tall, caucasian male as well as a serpent. Theres no real historical documentation on the life of Jesus and the Bible is very vague on the whole thing and seeing as how it was written hundeds of years after he died i'm not surprised.

The answer is, nobody knows for sure what happened to him or if he was indeed real, the bible is more of a guide to live your life right and shouldnt be taken at face value, a bit like a fable. Trouble is, people do and thats why religion causes so much bother.

I take it your not the relious type or you wouldnt be questioning the whole thing, neither am I but like you find it all very interesting.

Jesus Christ by his nature was a man and a spirit. He was man because he came from God to experience what man experiences on earth and he was born as other men were.

He is spirit because he manifested the nature of God. When Jesus was crucified, he died as men do, he rose again as Spirits do not die then he accendened into heaven. India is not heaven, so Jesus could not have lived in India after resurrection.

This dogmas are the handiwork of unbelievers who want to paint the picture that Jesus is the not the son of God.

Well, either you believe Jesus was God or you don't. In any event he died on the cross. He didn't go to India because he was a Jew on a mission to the Jews and how many Jews were there in India at the time. His particular love was Israel.
There are a lot of myths and stories about Jesus out there but, if you want to find out about him, I would suggest that you read the New Testament and forget about the ancient legends that are circulating everywhere.

Let 'SNVL' live in her world. Does no harm.
Yes Lord Jesus had acquired the skills to fake death from his childhood days in India. These skills are based on Yoga. Christianity is base on the statement that 'Lord Jesus died on the cross for our sins'. If 'his death on the cross' is proved not to be true then? The Hindus do not mean harm to the Christians so they have kept the secret about Lord Jesus all these years. Hinduism practises live and let live. They are aware that Christianity will collapse if the truth was revealed.

Christianity needs to be broad based on human values. Hinduism is based on this and survived.

Apologies to my Christian friends who are offended by this.

I respect that--at least for the Indians that subscribe to this--it may be true, simply because they have faith in it. Faith is a powerful thing; it makes the weak strong and meek brave, it comforts us when we are scared and vindicates us when we are wrong, and I will be the last one to say that someone's faith is wrong.

All we know for sure is that there was a man from Nazareth named Jesus who was crucified in Jerusalem--surviving Roman records prove that. Everything is conjecture, everything else is faith. I know what I believe--that Jesus rose into Heaven forty days after his Resurrection. However, the possibility that he lived out his life spreading the Good Word does not hurt my faith in Him; it proves--at least to me--that He was a great teacher and that He lived His life in the service of God to help us return to His grace.

But, that's just my opinion.
