Because they are worshiping the Lord and don't care what other people think. They aren't scared or ashamed to show the joy they feel for their Lord. I go to an interdenominational church were we have spirit filled music, clap our hands and raise our hands in worship. I love it!

You must have never attended a service at a church of god establishment. I am white but have attended a black church with friends and they were very nice to me and the service was great, music was upbeat and I saw nobody fainting in the isles or wailing. I did hear some loud Amens but that is a good thing. The one and only time I ever attended a Church of God service, I almost wigged out completely. The congregation was mostly white yet they were walking across the tops of the pews, speaking in tongues ( not in accordance with the bible, as there was no one to translate) and I was pretty scared. I have to say I suppose it depends on the church itself as to how the congregation handles it's spiritual uplifting but I think you may have over generalized on this one. Don't believe all that is portrayed on T.V.

Race has nothing to do with it. There are quite a few denominations of all races that act like that. Pentecostal style churches in particuler. Some Baptist chruches as well but that is rare.
As for why more Blacks attend a church which is Pentecostal or showy in nature it has more to do with culture. A Black raised in something other than "Black" culture is no more likely than anybody else to attend a church like this. In Black culture being loud and showy are valued traits. Reggie Jackson for example. the boxer Ali, and the list goes on. Comercials aimed for primarily Black audiences tend to have that exagerated and loud feel too them. So it would be natural for them and others raised in cultures which extoll exibitionism would be showy in religion as well. The Spirit when it moves you doesn't make noise. You choose to do so or choose not to do so. It is spirit, so by deffinition it does not move air. A necessary requirement for noise. Nor do Christians by deffinition have to express themselves in that way. Many Jewish traditions are actually quite similer, the wailing wall in Jeruselem for example. A very public display of devotion and religion.
Mainstream US culture was founded by dour Protestents which took the opposite extreme. Many even banned dancing considering it to be from the Devil himself. This pragmatic dour attidude about life creates a very self depreciitve and modest culture. So the same noise that follows a Pentacostal church as a display of worship is found in the very silence in a traditional Protestant chruch. This silence being reverence. By not saying anything you are say how much you respect the church, the congragation and the Lord.
Which is right? Who knows who cares. Pick what's right for you. There are quite a few churches that are inbetween the two extremes. Catholic churchs tend to be more traditional, which means they contain both elements. A typical Catholic mass has times of singing and times of quiet. A good Catholic priest can give a cheerfull exciting mass, a boring one will have you trying to stay awake through all the up down kneel up down kneel events. Many of the non-denominational churches today provide a very exciting and fun mass. Music leads things off. The Preacher tells jokes as well as reads from scriptures. People sing, express themselves both out loud or in silence. Kind of the best of both worlds in that respect. Most non-denominational churches I've seen are set in areas where multiple ethnic groups are encouraged to join. So they tend ot be the most racially integrated churches I've personally seen.

who said white churches don't?
Depends on what kind of church you attend.
Charistmatic churches of revival are growing like mushrooms everywhere and in these churches you really see and experience the fire of God.
I am in Malaysia and we experience all these even here.
God has said that during the end times, there will be more signs and wonders and healing.
By the way, the fainting is being slain in the spirit, when we fully submit ourselves to God, He takes over and gives us a peace which surpasses all understanding.
As we lay there, we can experience many things besides the warmth of His love, including getting healed, seeing visions, being delivered, etc

You haven't been to the right white church. Plenty of white people faint, scream and shake. Praise the Lord.

I have often wondered why Blacks seldom become Atheists. They are exposed to the same stimuli as the rest of us, but for some reason they cling to superstitious beliefs. This is illustrated by the fact that "Psychic Hot lines" were almost exclusively aimed at them. In any business (fraudulent or legal) you go where the market is. I suspect that it is part of the recent (in anthropological terms) tribal nature of their ancestors which has been maintained as a method of self protection within the group. Black church services are not unlike the free flowing expressions of tribal rituals still practiced in Africa. Perhaps they will eventually overcome this and be more receptive to logic and rational thought associated with Atheism. We can only hope we all do that.

I have fainted, screamed and shook when I got the spirit in me.
And thrown up. And woken with the most dreadful hangover the next day. And I'm as white as they come.
Can't say as I ever got that drunk in a church, though...

Maybe they are less inhibited than us. The Church of God, sometimes called the Holy Rollers are quite expressive from what I've heard. However the spirit moves you is all right with God.

That's not true everyone does it when the Holy Spirit is TRULY working within them.(Some fake it don't know why it's nothing to play with) That's not just a black thing. When the Holy Spirit is really in the church that happens.

PUTT,
Someone showed us some video of a white church doing just that kind of thing here on Y!A. It was pretty sickening. Stupid in fact. An embarrassment to Christianity.
It seems to me that 99% of it is not of the Spirit. I hope that their faith isn't fake all the way through.
