I'm neither Christian nor Wiccan, but I always thought the Wiccans had a better creed. "Harm none, do what thou will.'
I suspect the pedophile priests intend to use the golden rule as their get-out-of-hell free card.

Okay please for the love do not generalize. I realize there are a lot of people that are "christians" (or claim to be) that do not portray it. They talk the talk but fall short when it comes to walking the walk. But I also know that there are lots of christians (like myself) who try very hard to be non-judgemental, selfless, and consider the needs of others before our own. Which is what that verse is basically saying. I realize that no one is perfect and try is the best we can do, so we do have our shortcomings as well. So if a christian messes up one time dont rush up to them waving a Bible in their face, reciting all the commandments they broke and all the verses they dont live out.
As for your second question. No I do not think the Bible would be a better book if it had just that one verse in it. This is because in order to first off be a 'good christian' we need to fall in love with God. When we truly love God that's when sin comes down to a minimum (sin can never be eliminated just minimized) and that's when we are the most caring, the most loving, the most understanding etc. Well in order to love God, we need to know what he's like. Well the Bible is basically a guide to God's attributes. It tells us of numerous accounts of where he reacts to things, why he does and what follows. If all that gets thrown out where would the love be? How can we love a person we not only cannot see, but now we dont know anything about him either. And if you ask me, I think if you are the most selfless person in the world and the most generous and such and do not have love in your heart, it all means nothing. Anyone can throw out money to the poor and anyone can give up their seat on a bus, but not everyone can take a minute out of their time to thank their professor for that insightful lecture or hug a person who seems in dire need of it, no that requires love. So you see that verse is good, but it does not sum up all of what Christianity is about.

I focus on everything that God says. And no the Bible wouldn't not be better with one sentence. It's already the best book you could own.

you can't pick and choose what you like about the Bible. It isn't that easy. If you did the same with the owner's manual for your car, you'd say I don't like this part about gas! It costs too much! I'll just throw that part out. No. God says what He means, and means what He says! So pleae read the whole thing.

Yes, yes, yes , yes, yes......They are too busy looking at others around and judging their "sin" to look in the mirror and say, "God, who is that beast staring at me?"
The problem is this whole thing we call Christianity is not based upon the teachings of Christ (do unto others), but rather the teachings of Paul, and this is what he has created....Yuck.

"Why is that any of your or any other Atheists business?"
Because, when the fundie xians push their beliefs upon EVERYONE in the country, through politics and churches trying to gain control in their communities, it affects us atheists.
The bibull would be best banned and shredded. It preaches intolerance, lies and ignorance. This message is wrapped in love. Awww.

Why don't Atheists allow Christians to believe as they will?
It is that individual Christians business what he or she determines for themself to believe?
Why is that any of your or any other Atheists business?
