Why not do the courthouse wedding .. then have the bigger wedding down the road (5 years or so) to renew your vows.

Hugs from a Loving Mom to a Brillant, as well as beautiful 8 year old Jared and Our Angel, Zachary (taken to soon but who will always remain in our heart) ~ Mel

Your question was kind of vague. Do you have any money at all to spend? I got married at a courthouse the day before, then had a "wedding" and real reception at another location. I didn't spend anymore than 6 grand for the whole thing(including dress, food, dj, etc.) I'd be more than willing to give you some ideas for that if you can afford to do so. If not, just focus on who and why you're getting married, then plan a party to celebrate with family and friends a little later within that year when you've saved a little money. You can still wear a beautiful, put your man in a tux, but you won't need to spend the extra dollars on the rest of the wedding party. It'll be a more cost effective way to get the celebration you want with your family & friends. Just a thought :) Good Luck!

Sure! My husband and I wanted to get married but we had no money so we got married at the courthouse thinking that later, maybe on a particular anniversary we would renew our vows and have a more formal ceremony but after 8 1/2 yrs. of marriage we've decided that we don't need to do that. When we went to the courthouse we had our immediate families with us. My parents bought us a wedding cake and made us a "Just Married" sign. We got a few really nice gifts and it was wonderful.

I got married at the courthouse. And our 10 year anniversary is coming up. We're going to have a big shin dig and renew our vows for that. Nothing wrong with it.

We wanted to get married, but only had $1000. So we bought nice rings, got our license, tipped the justice of the peace. Then we used the rest of the money for a little dinner party for family and friends.

Depends on if the courthouse will allow it. If you want a big wedding, have a big wedding...it just may not be at the courthouse.

You can just have a small courthouse ceremony but a large reception.

Your invitation should then invite people to the reception, and not mention the ceremony, because they are not invited to that part. You replace the word "wedding" with "wedding reception" and then it's a reception invitation.

hun every girl want a big beautiful wedding thats what we all dream about. Well most of us I was one of them and I had a very small wedding due to lack of money now me and hubby have been married 4 years and on our 5 th we are renewing them and having a nice big wedding with EVERYONE there! So if it a financal thing i would wait till you are both settled and then renew but if no issue there maybe set the date back and plan a big one!

Yes, most people want a nice wedding. You should talk to him about it and see if you can budget something different.
