You should be happy that you are blessed by God for the gift of forgiveness. Every one does not believe in forgiveness.
But forgiveness is not going back to the same person even if he has hurt you or let you down.
Forgive him, for ditching you, talk to him as a human being, but do not get involved with him as you had felt for him before. You are forgiving, but is he repentful ? You may be soft at heart, but his intentions may still be the same, a fling, good time sex, etc.
So I will say forgive him but do not fall for him again.

Forgiveness nothing! He tried it on with your mate, she said no so he comes back to you? Tell him to feck off with himself and get yourself a decent bloke!

There's 2nd chances and there's being taken for an eejit!

it's good to have forgivness, and sometimes 2nd chances are good, but personally, I was never one to have "sloppy seconds". so, maybe his second chance will be that he won't screw up with the next girl he tries to get with. sounds like he wanted his cake and eat it too.

Second chances end up turning into 3rd, 4th, and 5th chances

probably not, i mean, the guy was obviously is using u as a object for rebound. if you really like him, then u should, but if hes only a crush, ditch him like the dog he is.
