6 months old is still a kitten , its just playing , theyll grow to accept eachother if they live in the same house together , if your cat does become overly violent to the dog then id suggest giving one of your pets to a relative or friend who can take it.
p.s. a warning to what fae goddess said , do NOT trim your cats claws , take it to the vet to do that , there are blood vessels in their claws and if you cut too far they can bleed to death , please let your vet trim your cats claws or if its a housecat you can declaw it , but do not make that cat go outside ever if you do decide to declaw it because it will get killed by other animals.

Clip the kitten's nails, just in case.
Then, campaign against kitten misbehavior - isolate the kitten when he attacks the dog, tell him firm "no" when he pounces... if the kitten is just playful, there shouldn't be cause for alarm; if he is aggressive, then you should try not to leave the two alone together (just keep them separated when you are out of the house).
A couple of my friends have a (still very young) female boxer, and used to have a cat for a couple of years before that - the dog will still molest the cat, on occasion, but it's more of a game, and they make sure that the cat has a place he can run away to, if the dog's attention is too much. You might want to find some way to do that - a hiding place for the dog where the cat is not allowed to / cannot go (although it's the more difficult version), just so that you know your dog can go someplace safe if he feels threatened.

its very natural for kettens & puppies to play, you shouldnt worry too much. you could try keeping your kittens nails trimmed that way there is less of a chance to your pooch getting scratched, just use small fingernail clippers thats what I do

They are playing. probably. I thing if you dog did not like it there would be a major fight. Just let them work it out.
