When Mohamod claimed of dividing the moon into two ,Abu-Baker was the first,as always to authenticate it,but when Umer -bin-Hasham(the intellectual) confronted Mohamod rationally ,he denounced him as Abu-Jahil(father of illiterate).Actully he said to Mohamod that anybody you will ask for confirmation ,the person will second you as you hynotize the person. So,Umer gave proposition to Mohamod that to send two men to Damascus to confirm from locals as the moon is everywhere and if splitted into two pieces ,The peoples of Damascus would verify ,at this point Mohamod stop arguing with Umer ,This event is not allegorical but claimed to be happened in material sense..

Science does not need to explain any event that Allah(SWT) allowed to be preformed by for the prophet (PBUH) , you just need to have faith . Can science prove that Jesus healed , or that the animals filed on the ark 2 by 2 etc.

and actually abu-jahil was formerly known as abu-hikamat and should not be confused with the prophet, pbuh.

The parting of the moon is a fact, but the Prophet (Pbuh) did not do it. How could he when he was an ordinary human being, like all of us, except for the fact that he was chosen by God to receive and deliver His last message to mankind? God who is able to accomplish any purpose of His did it. Many a Qur’anic verse ends with the comment: “God has sway over all things.”

The evidence confirming this event is in the Qur’an. Surah 54, The Moon, or Al-Qamar, starts as follows: “The Last Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been split. Yet whenever they see a sign, they turn away and say: ‘It is but sorcery extended.’” (54: 1-2) When you analyze the first verse carefully, you find that it consists of a warning about the Day of Judgement, which is indicated here as the Last Hour, and a piece of news speaking about a certain event, namely, the parting of the moon. There are also several Hadiths that mention the event. One is reported by Abdullah ibn Massood who says: “The moon was split into two parts during the lifetime of the Prophet and people looked at it. The Prophet (Pbuh) said to all people: ‘Bear witness.’” (Related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Further evidence is that the Qur’an stated this fact very clearly, confronting with it the idolaters who denied God’s message, and none of them is reported to have denied the event. They acknowledged it, but they sought to dismiss it by saying that it was sorcery. They claimed that the Prophet put a spell over them to see the moon in two. But then some of them suggested “if Muhammad has managed to cast a spell on us, he cannot do so with all people. Let us wait until some travellers arrive and ask them.” They did and all travellers arriving in Makkah confirmed seeing the moon parted in two. Hence the unbelievers alleged, as the Qur’anic verse states, “it is but sorcery extended.”

But why should we wonder at God’s ability to split the moon in two, or into many smaller fragments, if He so wills? Do we not believe that He is able to accomplish any purpose of His? Think of the recent huge earthquake that caused the tsunami that killed around a quarter of a million people in countries thousands of miles apart. It caused the movement of one of the largest islands of Indonesia, and made some small islands disappear and others emerge. Then reflect what would be the effect of a similar earthquake lasting ten minutes instead of 20 seconds, and what if such a longer earthquake was ten times as strong. It could split the earth into several parts. Besides, the creation of the moon itself and the way it functions, the cycle it follows, and the change of its position and shape every night provide a much greater sign for us to contemplate. We must remember, however, that all this occurs by God’s will, not by any of His creatures.

It seems you are somewhat confused. Miracles can't be explained scientifically because they are supposed to break the laws of science!! But why should you deny such a great miracle? You should explain this to me because it is mentioned in the holy Quran, and if it didn't happen all the unbelievers and enemies of Mohammad at his time would tell him we didn't see this happened and hence the Quran is not true. Now think of the reaction of the unbelievers they told him this was an act of magic! That means it really occurred and they saw it and for this reason they waited a few days till travelers came from distant eras and confirmed that the moon split into to widely separated halves.

The hly Quran Chapter (54 The Moon):
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.
But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic."
They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time.

Well, the only scientific explanation i can give is, when any one goes to moon, he will see the crack in it, which is a proof that it was split in half (also send me a post card from there lolzz). But, seriously i authenticate it with firm belief that the incident Did take place, and the moon was split into half. The king of Sarandeep (Now Sri lanka) saw this, and brought his faith to Islam. Even ppl outside the Makkah, in a caravan, saw the happening of it, and when they arrived in Makkah they verified it. This was One of the Miracles that ALLAH (GOD) gave to Prophet Mohammad (May Blessings and Peace of ALLAH Be Upon Him), the other Most Important Miracle is The Holy Quran (The Final Word of GOD).
Where do u come of saying umer ibn hasham as intellectual? he was the father of all ignorance (Abu Jahl). You must have ur facts straight, it was infidels led by the same umer ibn hasham (abu jahl) who asked The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) for Miracle, so that they can believe He is The Prophet of GOD, and when Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) performed The Miracle by ALLAH's Will, they turned back on their word and claimed it was magic performed on them. But, the caravan outside Makkah later verified that they had also seen it, so it was Not a magic trick, It was a Miracle and DID happen. And, u must give all of us ur source from where u r quoting this event in these words. u should be Ashamed for twisting the event with ur desire. Peace to All.

Could you cite your sources regarding Omar's objection. From what hadeeth are you getting this.

As far as splitting the moon, god is not bounded by science. The prophet travel from Mecca to Baitul Maqdis in one night a journey in those times that would take a couple months. So god is not bounded by science. To the contrary, laws of science are bounded by god.

Quran 002.117
"To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth: When He decreeth a matter, He saith to it: "Be," and it is. "

Islam is Quran!

Muhammad had no authority to preach anything but Quran and all that garbage you quote is not Quran. Its rubbish that Muslims use to sound like Christians and that makes them infidels.

You cant touch the Quran because infidels are unclean and you dont wash to read Scripture and only Allah can guide to Quran or with Quran. Infidels will never be guided even if they spend a lifetime reading what they think is Quran.

Muhammad was only a man and unlettered he was.

I think Allah gived some powers to prophets. For example Musa divided a river etc..I believe to this but I can't explain it sceintifially because religion can't be explained scientifially. Allah created everything. Allah can do whatever he wants.
