well, it's pretty hard, i'd say coz there's too many. only way to understand it fully is if u have the disorder or something. if u do, then by regularly visiting ur doctor, u'll learn more abt it and understand it.

There is already a great deal of understanding. Read some medical textbook on the subject and you will have a better understanding, personally.

You could take psychology courses or volunteer at a mental health clinic. Both would expose you to many issues people face.

experiencing is the only real way of understanding but since we can't get into someone else's head, we can only go by observation( testing) and what the person reports. then make educated guesses.

It doesn't matter now. Doctors have a very few drugs to chose from.
