Pros:
You feel good knowing you are helping people.
The pay is fine, with accompanying insurance and hazard allowances.
You learn snatches of dialects and languages.
You get exposed to various cultures (and you become multi-cultural yourself).

Cons:
You're on duty 24 hours even in your sleep.
Possibility of being killed by friendly fire.
Possibility of being killed by enemy fire.
Possibility of being killed by a dislocated individual running amuck.
Possibility of being infected by local area diseases that are supposed to have been eliminated in industrialized countries.

Deciding factors to consider: Your sense of dedication, commitment and your personal psychosocial and financial needs.
