Can I get braces in one dental place then end up moving and finish the treatment where my move?

Yes, any orthodontist should be able to continue treatment.

This happens all the time with orthodontic treatment which can last up to 4 years.

Ask your current treating dentist to prepare transfer forms. He/She should be able to help you find a dentist in your new location who uses the same type of appliances (bands, brackets, etc.) and techniques. The two docs will discuss your case, goals, progress, etc. All the models, photos, and x-rays will be sent over.

I'd advise you to have the records sent directly to the new doctor rather than carrying them yourself. Easy to get lost if you're moving everything else.

I would advise taking your records and x-rays from the previous orto to the new ortho...It might help ease the transition.
