I need help with this question. My boyfriend doesn't use his blinker very often (it drives me nuts!!), but maybe I use mine too excessivly. Anyway, the question is, do you use your blinker in a parking lot, too. Such as while your waiting for a parking spot or to turn down an isle? I use my blinker for EVERY SINGLE turn, regardless of where I am. My boyfriend says that you don't have to use yours in a parking lot.

I don't think it's possible to use it too much...except if you forget to turn it off.

I was rearranging my cars in the driveway a couple of days ago and it struck me that I was using my turn signal even in my own driveway. It's a habit I don't have a problem with.

The use of a blinker in a parking lot is a nice way to let people know you are waiting for a space, or are going to turn down an aisle. Just because you don't HAVE to use it doesn't make using it wrong. You don't have to open doors for people either - it is nice to do.

BTW, most states can cite you for not using your blinker... Just wait til he gets the ticket and then laugh...

Why does your car have blinkers (turn signals) in the first place?

TO TELL OTHER PEOPLE YOUR INTENTIONS!

On coming cars and cars behind you need to know what you are doing... They will assume you are continuing straight ahead if you do not indicate otherwise.

If your brake lights come on without a turn signal, they will assume there is something in the road ahead of you causing you to slow down.

Accidents happen in parking lots all the time. Wouldn't it be courtious to tell other drivers your intentions even when parking? The only time I don't use my turn indicators is when there is nobody to tell my intentions to. Otherwise, I use them as needed to tell others what my car is about to do.

Seems obvious enough to me!

Good luck with the debate...

Is a blinker the same as an indicator?
If so I use mine all the time. Yes, even in car parks

Legally you only have to use the signal on public roadways. But you can never be too safe when there are inconsiderate drivers out there that don't use the signals at all and want to cry when their vehicle is dammaged. Keep on using it. Its always better to be safe than sorry. You may want to remind your BF of this after he's been in an accident.

Although there is no law on this, using turn signals in a parking lot, I think it is a good idea to use turn signals at every opportunity. On the highway or turning in to your drive way.

I just got done with my Driver's Ed course.

Your boyfriend is wrong about not using it in the parking lot.

Also, you should use it to merge, change lanes, turning at an intersection, andmoving to the right to avoid emergency vehicles.
