Aren't there deeper things that He should be concerned about, and aren't we really doing a disservice by worrying about that stuff?

its funny, i thought god would be more concerned about things like murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc... more so than whether or not somebody ate fish...

I think he would be happier if we only put things into our bodies that were good for it since he did not give it to us to ruin. But I doubt he cares if you have a twinkie now and then. I do not guess it much matters what day of the week you attend church either. All he asks of you is to commune with him and talk to him in faithfulness and to pray to him earnestly. Quite probably he would be thrilled if most people acknowledged him at least once a day rather than a church meeting where you may not be getting his word as he meant for you to receive it. Think of yourself as a child beginning to read. God wants you to read with him so he can help you understand the hard parts and if you listen you will be able to understand. No reason to attend church at all other than fellowship with people who share similar beliefs with you. But chances are nobody is on the same wavelength or at the same spot in their walk with GOD. So you will either be left questioning something or leave someone else questioning. Quite a strange thought, huh?

3 For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome,

In Bible times the eating of food together indicated a bond of fellowship. (Ge 31:54; 2Sa 9:7, 10, 11, 13; see MEAL.) To refuse to eat food with someone was an indication of anger or other contrary feeling or attitude. (1Sa 20:34; Ac 11:2, 3; Ga 2:11, 12) Food was often used as a gift, to gain or to ensure the goodwill of another, since the acceptance of a gift was considered to obligate the receiver to observe peaceful relations.—Ge 33:8-16; 1Sa 9:6-8; 25:18, 19; 1Ki 14:1-3.

Christian Viewpoint. Christians are not under the restriction of the Law as to clean and unclean foods. They are required to abstain from blood and things that are strangled, that is, things from which the blood has not properly been drained. (Ac 15:19, 20, 28, 29) But aside from this Bible injunction, they are not to make the eating or the abstaining from certain kinds of food an issue or try to govern another person’s conscience by their own conscience as regards the eating of food. They are warned, however, against eating food as an offering to idols and against stumbling another person by insisting on exercising their Christian freedom in the matter of eating food. (1Co 8; 10:23-33) Christians should not put the matter of food or its handling ahead of the Kingdom and its spiritual interests.—Ro 14:17; Heb 13:9.

Yes, I do think God cares about what we eat. No, I do not think God cares when or what day we go to church.

There's things that are not good for us, which is manifested or results in illness. For this reason, I think he cares.

However, on the what day we attend church, no he doesn't. I feel that God, would prefer that we walk around with church inside of us everyday. The coming together is to strengthen us and to give God praise. Simple it may appear, but how else will you show God that you appreciate him and his word?

it doesn't matter what you eat or when you go to church. God is only concerned with you keeping the body he gave you healthy and that you create your life around god. You don't even have to go to church, as long as you have a time every morning or day where you sit there quietly "with God" your fine. some churches don't even teach you things that are important they only teach you what they want you to know nothing more. so get your own version of the bible. (I recommend an NLT: "New Living Translation" bible they are easy to start off with) and learn it all yourself that way you know you are getting the real deal. You can go anytime you feel god wanting you to. Hope i helped!

Wait, wait, wait. Why are you hanging petty human attibutes on God?

A ritual (or sense of ritual) is part of getting into the proper place to commune with God (pardon the pun).

"Church" in it's Biblical sense is the entire body of Christ, meaning all the christians. The specific day you go to church is called "fellowship" ~ when likeminded people gather to ... well .. praise God.

And no, I don't think a specific day is better than everyday to praise God.

And food? FOOD? Just keep yerself healthy, if nothing else out of respect for yourself and God, lol, and enjoy a pork ice cream sandwich.

You are right in one thing and that is we need to keep our eye on the big picture and not let Satan distract us with pomp, ritual (there it is again) and the minutae, tools and hangnails of the process when we ......

Praise God

It says in the bible that our body is the temple of the Lord. That means that we should take good care of it, by eating right and exercising daily. It also says in the bible that God rested on the seventh day {sunday}, so you should go to church at least once a week for fellowship. You should read your bible daily and pray. I hope that I helped you with your question! God bless you.

No, I don't think he cares about stuff like that. But in ancient days being careful about what foods you ate could have been the difference between life and death for your whole village, what with plagues and what have you. As far as the day is concerned, having people congregate at a specified time is important in communitys with close ties- especially when there must have been enemies everywhere, a meeting place and time would be crucial to help build solidarity and survival. I dunno just my guess.

Hey murder is worse then lying, so don't worry about lying. No. Obey the word of God, don't make excuses not to, these rationalisations were done long before you, by lucifer in Heaven.

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Also God condemns PIG and other animals without hooves and don't chew the cud (need both to eat it)

Also seafood must have fins and scales (no lobster shellfish etc)

just a reminder, there was only fruit, nuts etc in Eden.

God Bless!!!

Yes.

Actually, I don't believe in God, but if I did he seems to be a very petty, small, vindictive, and jealous god. Hell, I wouldn't even date someone like that, so why would I worship him?

Oh, and you really must read Mark Twain's Satan's Letters From Earth.

God only cares about whats in your heart. If you care he cares if you don't he doesn't. That's why he is our true judge because humans can't be trusted. Eat whatever you want to eat I wouldn't think God really cares about that. But something the bible says is bad could be in a health sense though.
