You might want to wait until after you have children to get the dog (either one) Having a pet is a big responsibility. It wouldn’t be fair to the animal to get one now and “spoil it” then have a baby come along and take up all your free time. It is easier to bring an animal into an “established family” than it is to try and retrain an established animal its new place after a baby is born.
Also some things to think about… Pugs do have breathing issues. Huskies can also have a variety of health issues. It is best to purchase from a reputable breeder. Neither breed handles the heat well. Both breeds will go through a natural shed each year. Husky is a double coated breed, which means LOTS of brushing. And once a baby starts crawling be prepared for a lot of vacuuming!

Huskies require a large yard and plenty of exercise..running type..they are also escape artists, and known for running away..so they need a very good fence..They are stubborn, so need a commitment to training, and plenty of patience..They shed a LOT.
Pugs are suitable for apartment living, and require potty walks about 3 or 4 times per day..(as adults).
If you are both out-doorsy people, who love to go on long hikes, and live much f the day out of doors, the husky would be a good choice..
Pugs can't tolerate heat, or strenuous activity in hot weather..
I have never known a faimly pet, other than pit bulls and Cocker Spaniels (and Springers) to ever harm babies or toddlers..I am sure it has happened, but I have fostered 23 children, plus my own, and never had a dog harm the children or babies..

I would say a pug since you plan on having a baby fairly soon. A husky, while wonderful, might still be in his adolescence stage when the baby is born and he might not be calm enough yet to know how to act properly around the baby. A pug can't do too much harm and takes less exercise! :)

my aunt had a pug and i had a husky so i know that a pug will be at the vet more frequently as they are prone to asthma and upper respratory infections the pug was great around kids and my husky was pretty cheap to feed since he liked the cheap dog food i found this out after i spent a forune on the really expensive stuff and the husky was really calm my best bet would be one please adopt from a shelter and two check out the personality of the dog and decide which one best fits yours and your gf personality

Huskies are known to be very good with children... If I were you, I'd go for a husky, 'cause not only are they gentle, but they are very good guards and trackers too... It'll be a great help around the house. But they need a decent amount of space to call their own. Get a pup around 2 months old and bring him up like you'd bring up a kid and watch the magic...! You'll have an inseperable companion for life...!

Personally, i hate how pugs are bred. They suffer by not being able to breathe properly, and all for show purposes. i also love bigger dogs. if you get a puppy, it may be better for you, then again, a dog around a year or so is better. You can train it with obediance classes, and the bigger dog are great for little tuckers. But, that is me personally. and many agree that big dogs are worse because of their size to an infant. If he is outside, the better for the infant. Kudos on a choice of male. much more family oriented dogs.

how much room do you have in your place?
also with a pending baby, how much money can you afford to spend on a dog?
a pug would definitely cost less to feed, but i feel like a husky might be better with children.
i don't like the idea of mixing small dogs with small children. the idea gives me the willies for some reason.

first of all the husky would need more leisure -excercise time ect...would you have the time being a larger dog n all...all dogs need excercise but the husky more so......how much backyard space do u have?...if you plan to have a child soon is a dog a good idea?...trust me when baby comes along finding time for a pet is a big ask....and depending on the type of dog this could cause jealousy and possible dog bitings/attacks????...think hard...

while paying for a canines, extraordinarily a domestic dog, that's important to think of of your existence-variety. in case you artwork long hours, that's smart to get a canines that would not need lots workout. in case you have extra time, be at liberty to get a canines which you would be prepared to stroll and play with. canines who've bottled up capability will regularly develop behavioral problems. Shepherds have a recognition of being fairly aggressive, yet this, of course, relies upon on the particular canines and its environment. A shepherd is a huge decision for somebody who can prepare it ideal and has numerous time to stroll and workout it. wish this facilitates=)
