You know, I'm starting to get a theory about that. I think it's something like this... Most of us straight people just don't make a big deal about gay people. Live and let live, you know, and it's none of our damned business. But people on the religious right seem obsessed with gay people. You might even find that some of them are so disturbingly obsessed with homosexuality that they post multiple questions on the topic here on YA. You can imagine what that would mean.
Anyway, that means that outside of other gay people, the people that gays have the most contact with are likely to be people on the religious right. Since gays so obviously ARE better than those people, it's only natural that they'd come to believe that they're better than people in general.

Sorry, but I don't think they are better, they just want to be equal after all they pay taxes and are great people that care for the world, at least the ones I know. They don't need extra rights, just "EQUAL" rights, that's all. There is still "gay bashing" going on out there.

What do you mean extra rights? Getting their health care and marriage and stuff like that isn't extra at all. I mean they were ppl when everyone was thinking they were straight. But soon as they came out all of their rights were taken away, just because they were different. Its not extra to want something that is rightfully yours to have in the first place.

Could be they feel theyve lost out in the past. Maybe they also feel above others because they have a bit of both worlds(sexes). They want to be noticed! I have come across some realy nice gay people. But i like Grld's answer.

Because they are a subjugated group just like any other group was, only for alot more of history. It wont be until they are treated equally by society that they would be given equal rights (in theory). It's the same as the reverse racism found in many groups today. Blacks, asians, women, etc. have prejudices against whites and men the same way whites and men used to be against them.
Cant we all just get along?

What extra rights do you think gays want to have? That is patently false. Gays want the right to get married and serve in the military. Everyone else has those rights already. What else do they fight for that you think nobody else has?

Can you legally marry who you choose? Have you ever been threatened with bodily harm or even death because you are attracted to people of the opposite sex? Have you ben condemned by virtually every major religious group because of who you'd like to date?
Since when does demanding to be treated fairly and have equal rights under the law mean you think you're "better" than the rest of the population?
Let me guess, you also think those damn black people should've just been happy with being slaves, instead of getting all high and mighty, wanting things like "freedom," right?
Your ignorance disgusts me.

It's a conspiracy! Do you spend a lot of time thinking about gays? You know what some would think about you if that were the case.

I don't think they want extra right, I suspect they want the same right.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
