i had a painful past. i did anything to forget about it. when i see my photos even my best ones i can see behind my smile and in my eyes pain and suffering. My girls can't understand why i don't like to see our videos and photos. They say u were beautiful mom...but all i can see is pain and tears....

Photo albums are very important to us not only because it brings backs old memoirs but also because it acts as an image mirror of our lives. Our past photos acts as our past life, while we are the present. with this immense knowledge at our finger tips we can actually shape and mould our lives in this ways: 1- knowing what we are in the past with the knowledge at hand that is the past photos we have, then we can compare it with, 2- our present life. this way we can know how well we have change whether for good or bad. 3- the last stage which is the future that is uncertain can be guided unto the right path.
Our past is important whether they are in photos, video, books etc. most time they leave scars which serves as a reminded to us though the Bible says old things have passed away and all thing have become new when we are in Christ. It simply show where we are coming from, where we are and finally where we are going or better put where God is bringing us from, where He is with us and where he is taking us to.
our present lives should be totally different from our past so is our present photo different from the past. take your time and see this you are not the same person in the past and present, now you are a new creature.

One of the functions of photo albums is to capture moments and when someone sees those pictures, it brings back memories. Whatever memories they are and whatever emotions they bring to a person, depends on that person alone. I can see the reason why you would prefer not to look at those photos, sometimes I do too especially on embarassing moments and sad events. I suppose it's a part of life. But, to me, I just think of the hard times as stepping stones. I think of them as something that would make me stronger and a better person. If your girls can't understand it, the best way is for you to understand that they have a different insight on photo albums. Shouldn't you be happy that they see happy memories on photographs? It's not lying to them, but yes, some photograph tell lies. But hey, it's the past. Live life, live for the present and not on the past. :)

I too had a painful past. I tried to forget about it, but when I look back, I try not to think about it. I think about the time I was having when the picture was taken. Memories are there for a reason, and the good thing about being human is you can choose how you see it. Picking the good out of the bad is hard, but it can be done. Keep trying, if for no other reason then for your girls.

Ur in that same situation because u dont want to move on try and move on life.dont give up try and be so postive ur failures and bad life should be something which should inspire u to make it in life common mummy let that not put u down its fun wen ur at the top to mesmerize on ur past and smile realising how far u have come from come on for once try join

Yes. it is hard to remember bad things but it can be even harder to understand and to live with fact that all those good times are never going to happen again. I feel that way when I see people who I have lost and are no longer with me. That makes me want to get in the picture and hug them...

I'm kind of the same way. I can't look at me school yearbooks becasue all those memories come flooding back in. I'd rather forget about those days.

Thats sad :( sorry...I dont look at photos either and i dont own a photo album, figure i would put the pictures in one one day....maybe.....

We should and must always remember our past at any cost.
This past helps in building our future.You should be thnakfull to God that He has pulled you out from that painfulll past.

i am like you exactly when i saw my old pictures and i back to memorys it's like a wonderful dream and i wish that it come back again you must your life become misribl life like me and it is so bad
