This is going to sound silly, but Desitin (for diaper rash) helps pretty well. It's been used in very 'sensitive' areas for razor burn and helped a great deal.

You might not know it but the razor material makes you allergic to it. So go to a Dermatologist.
It's like when the slim watches came out with leather straps soon my wrist became red the leather and the metal combine with perspiration gave my skin an allergic reaction. I just had some ointment/cream to remove the redness and not wear leather straps for my wristwatch and it never comes back (the allergy) again. Of course the Derma recommended the cream.

Razor burn is an irritation of the skin caused by shaving with a razor; either at sensitive areas or not using proper technique. It appears as a mild rash and usually disappears after a few hours to a few days, depending on severity. In severe cases, razor burn can also be accompanied by razor bumps, where the area around shaved hairs get raised red welts or infected pustules.

Razor burn is a common problem, especially among those who shave coarse hairs on areas with sensitive skin like the bikini line, underarms or chest, and beard).

The condition can be caused by:

* shaving too closely;
* shaving with a blunt blade;
* dry shaving;
* applying too much pressure when shaving;
* shaving too fast;
* shaving too roughly.

Ways to prevent razor burn include:

* keeping the face moist using a shaving brush and lather;
* using a moisturising shaving gel;
* shaving in the direction of the hair growth;
* resisting the urge to shave too closely;
* applying minimal pressure;
* avoiding scratching or irritation after shaving;
* avoiding irritating products on the shaved area (colognes, perfumes, etc.);
* using an aftershave cream with aloe vera or other emollients;
* use a disposable razor cleaning tool to lower bacteria present on the razor head;

Ways to heal razor burn include:

* applying witch hazel
* applying mild salicylic acid solutions
* applying aloe vera gel
* applying water

that's odd.. i get razor burn pretty bad on my neck.. but have no bother at all with my head... fraid other than keeping it moisturized nothing much will take away the redness apart from the natural healing.. i can recommend taking a bit more care when you shave next t time.. crop it down short with clippers first.. don't shave it when it's longer.. anything more than about a number 2 or 3 on the clippers will just clog the razor... allways use a fresh razor and try not to shave against the grain till its right down

If u could find a calendula plant nearby u can pluck the flower and rub the yello petals on the scar. believe me it works like magic. if there are no flower its leaf work equally good. it works as both as a antiseptic and healer. if both the things are not available go to a homeopathic medicine shop and buy a dilution of calendula medicine. apply it on your head and within 3 to 4 hours u can see the difference.
i pray for your early recovery.

sometimes it will go away on its own or with the use of witch hazel, but I shave my head while I was in basic training and I had to get some medicine for it, I forgot what it was called but it was awesome. cleared everything up and I didn't have all that discomfort. It some kind of steroid creme. if it's that bad talk to your doctor/dermatologist
