I think God created us just like every other animal. But our minds grew so complex that somewhere down the line we viewed ourselves as the "ultimate beings". To me, believing in God doesn't show arrogance. It's those who try and say "God is responsible for everything" that are arrogant, or better yet ignorant. Like I said for another question, God gave us a brain which in turn gave us the ability to choose. Hell, theres even a good line from Bruce Almighty: "Thats the problem with you people, you keep looking up!"

I don't think that if god exists 'it' is only because of/ or for us. A creator that created this universe has not done this only for the humans. It would be arrogant to think that. Same as it is arrogant to think we are the only (intelligent) life in the universe, or that everything revolves around us on Earth or in the universe. I think that there is definitely an intelligent force that has created this whole thing, but i don't think it was a 'god' like most religions have thought up, i do think that a lot of people might turn to the 'god' of the religions more out of loneliness and not wanting to be alone here...but not out of arrogance.

Yes, you have to be quite arrogant to believe in gods. People think they are so important. That they aren't just a number. That their god has a purpose for them and that their god has chosen to speak to them personally. Out of 6 billion people on the planet, a god chose to speak to you. Isnt that special.
You are just a number on this planet. To think you are so important that miracles happen to you, and that a god will answer any of your prayers, is truly arrogant. Why would a god answer your prayers over anybody elses? Why would a god help your team win and allow the other team to lose? Are you that much more important than everybody else on the planet? Arrogance. Plain and simple.

Pretty much! People are so afraid to think that we are just animals, just like the rest of the creatures on this earth. People are afraid that maybe there is no real meaning to life other than to just live and make babies that they need to invent the idea of a god that watches over us and makes us feel like there is life after death and that there is more meaning to life. Just look at history. We are constantly trying to make ourselves seem like we are so special. It took hundreds of years for people to finally admit that the earth is not the center of the universe, and now religion is threatened by the idea that maybe there is other life in the universe. Religion is also threatened by the idea of evolution because it also makes us less special. The church is still fighting the idea that animals were on this planet for billions of years before humans came around

Not as arrogant as God creating man so that he can have someone to worship him, and trick him into eating forbidden fruit by making that tree the most desirable.

Believing in God proves we have sense.
The senseless one or fool has said in his heart. 'There is no Jehovah.' Psalms 14:1
Arrogance is a human thinking that he is god, or knows more than god and even quite foolishly says he is stronger than god.
That happened to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, so GOD/Jehovah, made him go crazy and act like an animal for 7 years to learn the lesson, that Jehovah is the... Most High.. over all the earth.
But that mankind is loved by God is another story..'God loved the WORLD so much..he GAVE his 'only-begotten Son'..(the most precious thing/object/person Jehovah has)....so that you and I can live forever.....if we love them back.
1Cor.2:9 Eye has not seen and ear has not heard, neither have there been conceived in the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those who love him.

To some people the concept of ‘God' is very powerful in inspiring the development of self discipline and becoming a good person with a sense of love and forgiveness and devotion.
It's not for me, but I've met some truly amazing God 'believers' in my life and they are proof it works... for some.

If horses had gods, would they not be in the image of horses? And how is that arrogant, when so many faiths hold that their "great God" teach humility?
