Usually, it is either anatomic abnormality of the bladder, urethra or pelvic floor, or neurologic problems.

There are several degenerative diseases of the brain where enuresis is a prominent symptom. Would need more information before making a guess.

Incontinence isn't uncommon, especially for older people who's bladders aren't as strong as the used to be (all muscles get old, including ones in your bladder). Pregant women or new mothers may also have this problem due to the pressure on the bladder. There are many ways to help this problem. Doctors can generally help but there are also many non-medicinal ways to help that can be found on good medical websites.

it has to go with the bladder....what is happening during the night is that there bladder muscle has a spasm and squeezes and pushes the urine out....if you know someone that is doing that you should have them go to the Doctor to see if they can get anything to stop the spasms and it might stop the bed wetting....

could be that they have developed diabetes, and considering alot of people have it and are unaware best to get it ruled out as left untreated can lead to loads of other problems. it's only a little test but best to know it's not than be unaware of it.
