I'm in the process of trying to gain weight now, too (post-surgery), and I'm just cramming as much food down my throat as I possibly can. Lots of protein, and I'm drinking a couple Boost energy drinks a day, too. I have other health problems, so it's slow going, but the weight is coming a bit at a time.

I would give you a glib answer like "eat more" but I used to be way under weight and I fought to get my weight up.

First off stop anything that is an appetite supressant, caffiene, nicotine, etc.

Next eat regular meals. That means at regular intervals and at the same times each day. For instance eat breakfast at 6 am, lunch at 12, dinner at 6 pm and a snack again at 12. Follow the same schedual every day. Reason for this is it will help train your appetite. You will find that after only a few days you'll be very hungry by the time your meal times arrive. And of course hunger is a good way to gain weight, it gets you to eat.

Eatting really is the key to gaining weight. Even if you use weight trianing to gain weight you still have to eat right to accomplish it.

Carnation Instant Breakfast. Very nutritious. Made with whole milk it is fairly high in calories. Have a Carnation Instant Breakfast with each meal. Notice WITH. Don't try the inbetween meals thing you will just Dull your appetite. ( I suggest the Instant Breakfast because of cost, it has pretty close to the nutrition and calories of the more expenseive drinks but costs way less.)

When you eat, when you set down for a meal try to save part of what you like best for the end of the meal an incentive to eat a little bit more.

Avoid low calorie meals. If you have a salad have a candy bar to compensate.

Keep in mind it takes 3500 EXTRA calories, caloreis you don't burn to gain a pound. That is really a lot of extra calories. it will take a while just keep plugging away at it. Just eat.

AND try to reudce stress. If you are over weight stress will make you eat and gain. If you are under weight stress will cause you to loose your appetite and you will loose weight. That just seems to be the way it works.

Do not eat junk food. This transition should be done carefully and with the aide of a doctor. You want your weight-gain diet to be a healthy one. Eat like the sumo wrestlers do. A lot but healthy foods that have a short shelf life.

The "easiest steps" is no steps...eat, sit and sleep. Someone must bring sugary/ fatty foods and sugary drinks to you...how about going to the bathroom? Shush! Don't think...because even that makes you use up calories. Have a potty next to you.....
