carrots are in indeed good for your eyesight as they are a source for vitamin A.
But remember once a damage has been caused dont think that by eating carrots it will get cured.
Carrots also cannot rectify defects by birth it will help in slowing the process of degradation due to old age.

Yes carrots are good for eyesight. Besides eating carrots one should do "Sarvangasan" and few other exercises for eyes. Consult a Yoga teacher.

It is just an urban legend, while carrots are a good source of vitamin A (which is important for healthy eyesight, skin, growth, and resisting infection), eating them won't improve vision. The purported link between carrots and markedly acute vision is a matter of lore, not of science.

Yes, prevention is better than cure, i definetly recommend eating raw carrot (eg:in salads or sandwiches) and any other orange coloured fruit and vegetables (eg:apricots and peaches) on a daily basis as they contain beta carotene (vitamin A) which is an antioxidant which helps to maintain/improve eyesight in addition to preventing certain types of cancer.

Carrots are good for the eyres..but if you overstrain your eyes or your family has a history of bad eyesight then carrots cant help that...what carrots do is strengthen the muscles round your eyes and prevent it from deteriorating further

the whole "carrots improve your eyesight" theory was started during either WW1 or WW2 as a way of encouraging people to grow carrots to eat as part of their diet because of food shortages. They told people it would improve soldiers night vision whilst flying and fighting but it didn't really, but it did encourage people to grow and eat carrots instead of mainly potatoes, which were harder and more expensive to grow
