Well you can not lock the person up that is on blood thinners so saying to stop whatever is making them bleed is crap.. even a slight bump makes my dad bleed. and bruise like someone beat him. all i do is apply pressure to it with a gauze pad.. remove it when it is done and use that liquid band aid.. but remember if he bleeds more then usual because I'm sure you know how long it takes for the person to stop bleeding call the hospital. Better safe then sorry.. but remember it is a open wound.. so tea bags and all that other junk is not good for a open wound

NEVER put anything into a open, bleeding wound. You increase the risk of infection. Apply pressure. Blood thinners does not mean the blood will not clot at all. It will clot, but slower. What was the last PT time? If is too high, then the Coumadin needs to be adjusted.
Stop whatever is causing the scratches.

Apply pressure. Those darned medications cause bad bruising too. If my friend even touches something the wrong way he bleeds! Lots! Apply pressure and keep the wound clean.

Blood thinners like coumadin is very dangerous when bleeding occurs, if applying pressure does not stop bleeding immediately, call paramedics.

Apply pressure for awhile. If it still doesn't stop, get him to the hospital. He should always wear a medic alert to let paramedics, etc., know he is on anticoagulants.

depends on where you are bleeding. you might be able to apply a pressure dressing, which is a folded 4x4 piece of gauze held in place with a tight elastic bandage. make sure to remove it when the bleeding stops so you don't lose circulation...

Steptic pencil maybe & sometimes even flour can work. Also - try to apply pressure for several minutes and if this is a limb, have him hold it above his heart. My mom takes those too. :o(
I won't let her use anything sharp - at all. She is kind of clutzy to begin with. I don't know how he cut himself - shaving, etc but men use steptic pencils for that which you can get in any drugstore or online at drugstore.com
