Cats DO knead their mommas to get a better flow of milk; that's a given. Are you asking why they do it as adults?? I think it's a self comforting act. It relaxes them and makes them calmer. It shows contentment.

I own cats and dogs. They are both unique in their own way. Cats will catch dripping water from a spigot; drink and wash with it, so I tend to disagree with the statement about cats.

yes they do, so yes I know this to be true......adult cats will do it kind of like an act of comfort, they are comfortable w their person so they treat them as a peer or another cat

cats suck, in my opinion. any animal that is smart enough to get mad at you and mess up your stuff is smart enough to live in the wild. and the stink up houses. you never hear of stinky, creepy dog people, but how many times do you see stinky, creepy cat people? case closed.
