I believe that there is a God, but dont attend services because I think churches are too full of politics and hypocrits. Near as I could ever tell the pews are full of those who treat others crappy all week and the go to church for redemption or something. If you live your life decent, you dont need church on sunday. My beliefs are between me and God.

Here! But I see religion as a blue print invented by some very smart beings to try and direct people towards a survival future. However, since religion had so much power in the past it was also used to manipulate people and achive the things that someone wanted badly. Notice that I did not say that it is like a blue print invented by humans. There are people who belive that religion was introduced by aliens. Is that true? I don't know.

I agree and disagree with you.
I totally believe in God and consider myself all religions, since I don't believe any are totally correct.
I do not agree that religion is just a tool. I believe some use it as a tool; however the root of most of these religions are pure.
It's not religion itself that is bad; it's some of the people in the religion.
I personnally think if there was no such thing as religion we would forget all about God or label God mythology.

I like to think that there may be a higher power or higher powers. However, I don't believe in any established faiths..........although there are plenty out there, even if small, which I know nothing of. I have trouble believing religion, which is so super-natural and not-provable, like the existence of god/gods, without any HARD evidents. I'm not one of the weak-minded blokes, who just follows th e religion of my family/friends. Maybe there are a plethora of Gods, which have their own individual powers and realms and stuff. I hope that I can enable people to shrug off the ideological shackles of religious indoctrination, and open their minds/pull their heads out.

I'm with you 75 percent.
I believe in God, and have for years, and can't see shaking off that belief any more than I'd stop believing *I* existed.
My relationship with various quarreling factions of the Mystically United Body of Christ has been a little shaky over the years. Just the same, it's been important for me to find a group of people I can agree with enough to worship with them. Ask God to lead you to a place to fit in. I finally found a place like that for me.
God wants a family. It's hard to be a lone-ranger and a family person at the same time.

Never thought of it that way but I totally agree. I'm more spiritual than into any religioin. My friend is into being a witch and really can't stand the catholic faith to which is her family's religion. And she is getting much dirt from them because they are Irisht. But I look at it this way, my dad is Christian and my mom is Catholic, but religion is too over rated. Because ppl just use it to get their way and say that God doesn't like this or that or its in the bible. Just a big form of manipulation.

I believe in God, but I'd consider myself agnostic. BUT, I think people are forgetting the fact that in the bible it states a church is just a meeting place for those with beliefs. Too many responses in here are saying they look down on churches. Well that's fine, but I'm not stupid enough to say that church is bad. There are alot of people in this world who hold their morals in the hands of their religions. In no way are they perfect people, but religion HAS had a strikingly obvious effect on the way people live their lives. Without religion, there would be chaos. I honestly believe that. As for myself, my holy temple is in my heart, I just go to church for an opportunity to express my faith in God with others. I don't go because I need to believe everything the Father tells me.

What is religion? A mere practice and devotion of Faith. Faith is...Jesus Christ. Now if you are talking about going to Church? Our Lord instituted the first church. He made Peter the head of His Church. What is Church? A mere place for Jesus' people to come together as One in Christ, in that moment and time. Fore which the time before and the time after has no bearing. Many humans are lazy, or, are full of excuses, and/or, are too, hypocrits. Simply, we all are...imperfect. Those who point hypocrit to others, are the first to be noted as hypocrit. I believe. They seem to have had the best practice at it, and there fore can spot it in others. Ever heard the saying? "It takes one to know one"? Anyways, if you are asking if God and Religion go hand and hand? They certainly do! Blessings, ~~Mafi

I agree in part. Religion is a set of rules that one man has made up that other men embrace. it brings bondage. I believe in God as well. But here's the difference: Without accepting Jesus Christ into your heart as yout Lord and Saviour, you will not be saved. Christ brings freedom into a life. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Him.

I personally believe that religion is manmade and that God hates religion. But religion and your personal relationship with Christ are two different things. I am a christian in every respect, but I do not have a religion. I am not a baptist, or methodist or anything like that. I just go by what is in the Bible and in the Bible only, no additives. And I also go by what God tells me.
