YES

The rule to lose weight is: calories in < calories burnt
ANY exercise and a good diet will help you lose weight, and swimming is a very good exercise. The key is to get your heart rate up. You don't start burning calories until you get your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes.

Swimming is an Anaerobic exercise, meaning you have less oxygen. It is one of the few exercises that you can do that is anaerobic, so it works your lungs as well. It is good to switch between the types of exercise you do. It is good to work a body group, then let it rest for a day, and then work it again. Swimming is an exercise that uses all four limbs, and the muscles that attach the limbs to the body. So you want to rotate it with another exercises that will work your abdomen. While swimming you will exercise practically everything else.

Another advantage to swimming is that it is a resistance exercise, like lifting weights. All your movements are resisted by the water, so you have to work harder. The harder you work, the more calories you burn. Running is good, but swimming is better! As long as you push yourself.

A good exercise plan is critical to losing weight, and swimming is a great way to do it.

Absolutely. Swimming is a great exercise for weight loss. Better than running, in fact. And not as hard on the joints.

Swimming is one of top exercises around for becoming stronger and losing waight. I think its right behind running. The beauty of swimming is that almost all your body muscles are active when you swim so its an excellent exercise for the whole body. Second good thing is that its so much fun, too.

Swimming is a great form of excercise to lose weight. It is low impact (easy on the body) and works all muscle groups...but you also have to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight.

Yes, it is probably one of the best ways to exercise. No impact to the joints and you will use small muscle groups in the body that you may not focus on otherwise. Look at all swimmers, the are lean and tone, very little body fat.
