Use your imagination, anything and everything that can happen anywhere at any time.
All the good and bad that exist outside your door or in your own home.

If you live life worrying about these things then you are not living nor are your children.

There is a large variety of emergency type problems that can come up when dealing with children. I work with children and my job requires that I am first aid and CPR certified. Children can break bones, choke, consume something poisonous, get heat stroke, get stung by a bee, maybe have an adverse reaction due to an allergy or something else (peanut allergy is a big one). If you are concerned about being able to handle all sorts of emergencies then I'd recommend going to a local red cross or community center and signing up for first aid/cpr certification classes....the class is cheap and you get a certificate which may be required for jobs working with kids anyway.

EDIT: Forgot to add, these things rarely happen but it's good to be prepared. In my 5 years working with children at an outdoor summer camp I've experience maybe a few bee stings and that's about it for "serious" problems....everything else seems to be small scrapes and stuff that is fixed with a band-aid.

Well my son had a S-hook put through his lip and he hid in a supply closet prompting the day care center to call the state police and report him as missing.

He got stung by a bee.

Based on this, anything that can happen at home can happen at a daycare center, but I personally think they are safer then most homes.

In explaining the above, my son was a little hellion and the day care center was not at fault, he spent the rest of his day care years at the same center.

I'll bet some child care workers could tell you some doozies. Anything that can happen to a child is possible, broken bones, scrapes, cuts, epileptic ceasure, insulin shock, hyperglicemia, heart attack, falls, drowning, there are just too many list.
