Etiquette is a system of rules and conventions that regulate social and professional behaviour. In any social unit there are accepted rules of behaviour upheld and enforced by legal codes; there are also norms of behaviour mandated by custom and enforced by group pressure. An offender faces no formal trial or sentence for breach of etiquette; the penalty lies in the disapproval.

It depends where you dropped it- if it was indoors and the floor was pretty clean then wash it very well and re-spice it. If this happened to me I would not serve it to my guests- no matter what -it is a matter of respect for me. I 'd rather eat it myself -as I know I made that choice- but that's my way.
If it fell on the floor outside, give it to a dog or throw it away. No matter what- food hygiene and safety is very important.

Actually, it's not so bad if it is accidental... Hope the floor was clean... and that you rinced the roast though... It's certainly no worst than having flies on the meat beside your charcoal grill...
This is then okay.. just keep it quiet for ever.... or they may invite you too to taste their new recipe and serve you snake instead of chicken.... with the mouse still inside....lol...

It would be best to rinse it under the tap and pat dry before cooking. Temps above 140 kill germs, so you should be safe either way. This isn't really a question of etiquette, more of a food safety thing.

I understand your delima. yet when it purely dropped on your floor which became washed the day formerly immediately, it may't be that undesirable. this is not like it fell right into a touch one's dirty diaper, or vomit. i'd purely rinse it off and, proceed baking it. the nice and cozy temperature will ruin any micro organism on it if any. in case you'll eat it then which will be adequate for me. Do you've any concept what is going on in eating places? truth to inform, i'd eat it. yet I in no way eat any take living house foodstuff or eating places, except i understand the establishments hygenic ratings, which has inspectors going out to envision the establishments. I ensue to be a sparkling freak. when I make hen soup, I continuously skim off the right of the soup which has layers of brown stuff on it. I hate to ensure the tiny bits of brown stuff floating round contained in the soup when I eat it. when I eat at someone elses living house if there are any of that stuff floating round i do not eat it. relish your persons, and your Sunday lunch. i am going to are available case you'll invite me.

Good manners dictated that you run the roast under the tap before you cook it. I expect you are people that wear you filthy shoes inside (bringing other peoples spit in with them).

Nothing to do with etiquette here. If you dropped it you should have just run it under cold water, pat it dry with paper towel and proceed to cook as usual.

I think it would have been good to rinse it off and then do more seasoning, but also the question is how often do you clean the kitchen floor?!... Cheers
